Alexandra Beller/Dances is an ensemble of highly skilled dancer/actors working on the edge between dance and theater. Eddie Zawacki began his early training at Balanchine’s School of American Ballet. He has created an entire body of choreographic work on his own company the Zawacki Ballet.
Recently completing a year with ballet icon David Howard at 211 West 61st Street, NYC, they together taught and hosted several dance concerts with guests from NYCB, ABT, and Joffrey Ballet. Ed was a guest teacher at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center in the same facility.

Capoeira Angola, an ancient martial art of African origin, is one of the many cultural weapons used to break the chains of enslavement in Brazil. Played close to the ground, Capoeira Angola combines fluid, dance-like movements with kicks, head butts, tripping sweeps and the appearance of playfulness or vulnerability. Music is played on traditional instruments to accompany the players, to teach the rhythmic heart of the art, and also to mask its power. In the eyes of the enslavers it appeared to be a joking and playful acrobatic dance, but eventually its power was realized and Capoeira was outlawed. Death was the penalty paid by those caught playing Capoeira during the slavery era. For almost 400 years Capoeira Angola was taught and practiced in secret, and only in the 1930's did this African martial art become legal to teach and practice.

Jorday Rivera is a remarkable woman who leads a double life. By day, Jorday is an honorary Pre Med. Graduate student at St. John's University. The head intern for the chief of cardiology at The Parkway Hospital for the past four years. Within the next six months Jorday will attend either NYU or Columbia Medical School. She will study Neonatal and later become a heart surgeon and open her own practice.

The Company spends a portion of its summer in a second home in the Adirondack Mountains, where as artists-in-residence in Lake Placid, NY since 1987, it has developed many new ballets.

Founded by artistic director Diana Byer in 1978 as the official training school of New York Theatre Ballet. The Frank Ohman School of Ballet was founded in 1979 by Frank Ohman, former soloist at New York City Ballet (NYCB) and is one of the few remaining direct links to the teaching of George Balanchine. Currently located in Commack, the school serves as a training ground for promising young dancers and offers aspiring students the opportunity to learn classical ballet in the tradition of George Balanchine. Ms. King began dancing professionally in 1978 and has been teaching and choreographing since 1986. She directed the dance departments of St. Peter School, St. Mary and Holy Rosary Schools in Jersey City and has taught in Brooklyn at P.S. 315, School of Performing Arts, Poly Prep, Maple Street School, I.S. 62 Performing Arts Department, Flatbush Tompkins, Bridge Street Head Start, and even the Fort Hamilton Army Base. Ms. King has been credited by the Department of Education with developing "one of the most comprehensive dance programs in the district."
