Donghia is a privately owned furniture and textile company, founded by Angelo Donghia who, in his brief lifetime, established the high standards which have become the company’s hallmark. Donghia’s uniquely focused look is achieved through classically inspired yet distinctly modern product. Sold worldwide (in the USA, to the trade only), Donghia presents “American design” at its best. <br> Donghia furniture ranges from upholstered sofas, chairs and beds to tables, casepieces, wicker and teak. Original Donghia designed accessories include lamps, mirrors and vessels hand made by Venetian craftsmen. <br> Donghia furniture combines both glamour and simplicity while successfully bridging the gap between contemporary and traditional design. Pieces within the collection work to complement each other as well as period antiques and exotic artifacts—their chameleon-like nature allowing them to fit seamlessly into any design vocabulary. The company’s designs continue to evolve through a series of design collaborations. MHG Studio is a full service leather crafts shop, specializing in Architectural Leatherwork, restoration, custom leatherwork and original furniture design. Opened in 1998, the studio offers handcrafted designs using exotic skins including parchment, shagreen, snakeskin, pigskin, calf, suede, ostrich, crocodile, sharkskin, and endless others. The Studio has done work for such clients as Armani, Bergdorf-Goodman, Nautica, Polo, Abercrombie & Fitch, Aero Studios and Kentshire Galleries. We also have an extensive designer client base consisting of firms such as Jed Johnson Associates, David Easton, David Kleinberg, The Rockwell Group and many others.

He sensed a need in the marketplace, found his true calling in life, and opened the first Restoration Hardware store in his home in 1980.

DESIRON was founded in 1997 by Frank Carfaro and his brother. The company is a continuation of a rich family tradition originating in Turin, Italy, where their great-grandfather was an ironsmith. The business is continued by Frank Carfaro, President/Founder and head of design. The business is rooted in the classical training of Mid-Century furniture design and production. For the past century, the Bielecky Family has set the standard of handcrafting the finest quality Rattan, Cane and Wicker furniture in America. In 1903, Andrew and Conrad Bielecky, emigrated from Poland to New York and set up a small shop, weaving wicker chairs. In the 1920's Bielecky Brothers were one of the first to align themselves with the emerging interior design profession, creating an eclectic variety of custom made furniture fir individual decorators. During the 1930's and 1940's when wicker was relegated to the back porch, the company survived by maintaining quality in production and finishing. At the "American Home Decorating Show" in 1951. the Bielecky exhibit attracted numerous designers including Billy Baldwin who created an elegant collection of "wrapped cane" furniture for the company. In 1979, Angelo Designs, -functionally as well as physically. At the time, Mr. Donghia found he could adapt and restyle these designs for Ralph Lauren's new home, creating a new line of Rattan furniture for Bielecky.

Mike's Furniture Store is a furniture store with ready-made pieces, finished or unfinished. There are many colors of products for you to choose from with our color matching chart. Custom made furniture is also available if you bring in a sketch of what it is you want. We will then attempt to build it. Moldings are available to add onto anything you may already have.

It all started in 1936 by Martha and Samuel Gorin. They opened an upholstery shop at 81 Franklin Street in downtown Norwich, known then as the Colonial Upholstery Company. They eventually expanded and became the Colonial Upholstery and Bedding Company. As the years passed, they grew, taking over the four floors of 81 through 87 Franklin Street and renamed the company to the Colonial Upholstery and Furniture Company.

Libby's Torrington Furniture was started over 78 years ago by David Libby and Jack Apter. David became sole owner of the store in 1950. In 1968 David moved the store to its' current location at 104 Main Street. His sons Harry and Jerry joined the family business and eventually took over the store, and have continued to provide the best in sales and service for their customers.

In August 1893, John Willis, Jr. opened his first furniture store on Church Street, opposite St. Paul's church in downtown Norfolk. In 1901, he moved to the comer of Main and Church Streets in Norfolk in the Purcell Building that had been a hotel at one time. In 1912, he was the first occupant of the Mastin Building, later to become Smith and Welton Department Store.
