In 1964 Marguerite and Dominic started serving pizza and sandwiches from a small corner in the back of a bar called the Squan Tavern. Dominic was a meat cutter in a supermarket in Long Branch during the day and used to drive down to Manasquan at night to work at the Squan Tavern serving the foods that he was raised on.

Brickwall Tavern and Dining Room has quickly made the final block of Cookman Avenue a hot spot in Asbury Park, attracting a vibrant and bustling flow of people to previously abandoned sidewalks. Inside the restaurant, exposed building materials such as brick, cement, and plywood hint at Brickwall’s elemental inspiration. This inspiration translates well into Brickwall’s fare, which pairs a generous drink selection with high-end comfort food.
