"Whiskey Ed" Houdek first opened the doors to Ye Olde Spirit Shoppe in 1965. Occasionally, the Manor House Cellar invites distinguished wineries to showcase their most specialized portfolio collections.
Representatives of the wineries are on hand to discuss the creation process and take any questions that you may have regarding the wines. Up to six bottles from the wineries’ collections are featured at one time.

Some of them will age gracefully in your cellar for decades to come and some are meant to be enjoyed in the freshness of their youth. The original address of the Park Avenue Liquor Shop was 97 Park Avenue. As the landscape of the city began to change, the original home of our shop was marked to come down. But our love for the city was strong and we decided to make a move just around the corner to 23 East 40th Street. Then in 1975, we moved once more to our current location, 292 Madison Avenue.

The Greene Grape began in 2004 with a small wine store in Fort Greene dedicated to small production wine in an affordable price range. Today that commitment has extended to a 2nd store in Manhattan.

In the tasting room you may choose from two flights of wine tasting ranging from 4 to 8 wines per flight. A tasting is a small serving, about half an ounce. The Paumanok flight is $6 per person, the Grand Vintage flight is $10 per person. With the purchase of three bottles or more, your tasting fee will be credited toward your purchase. Paumanok Club members are not charged for tasting.
