Balboa Park is made up of more than 1000 acres and offers fifteen museums, various gardens, arts and international culture associations, as well as the San Diego Zoo, making it a place that offers something historical, horticultural, educational and recreational for everyone. Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Niterói tinha sido concluído ainda há poucos meses, quando o então prefeito da cidade, Jorge Roberto Silveira, convidou o arquiteto Oscar Niemeyer para uma nova empreitada. Pensando em revitalizar a zona central de Niterói, Jorge Roberto decidiu construir num terreno de 72.000 m² à beira mar, um complexo arquitetônico, voltado para a cultura e a religião da população. Certo de que seria um importante intervenção urbanística, o prefeito convidou Niemeyer para criar as edificações que, juntas com o MAC, formariam um caminho ao longo da orla, o Caminho Niemeyer. Em 1º de março de 1565, Estácio de Sá fundou, na Urca, entre os Morros Cara de Cão e Pão de Açúcar, a Cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Neste mesmo local foi erguida a Fortaleza de São João, constituída por três redutos (pequenos fortins também chamados de Baterias) e um grande Forte, o Forte São José, de 1578 – o terceiro forte mais antigo do país.
Depois de mais de cem anos, o Forte São José está sendo restaurado com apoio da lei Rouanet de Incentivo à Cultura. As duas primeiras fases da restauração foram patrocinadas pelo BNDES. Agora em sua terceira fase, o objetivo é fazer o restauro dos canhões do séc. XIX, e implantar projeto de iluminação para que o local possa ser visitado também à noite. A arquitetural original está sendo respeitada para que o carioca possa voltar no tempo.
A restauração do Forte São José será o ponto culminante de um grande complexo turístico-cultural dentro da Fortaleza de São João, que já está recebendo a visitação de escolas interessadas em mostrar aos seus alunos o palco de tantos momentos históricos importantes.

Located across from City Hall in the heart of downtown Jacksonville. First established as a public square by the City’s founder Isaiah D. Hart around 1857, it is Jacksonville’s oldest park. Known first as City Park and then St. James Park, it was renamed Hemming Park in 1899 to honor Civil War veteran Charles C. Hemming, who donated the park’s Confederate monument (the City’s oldest and tallest) the previous year. At various times the park contained bandstands, fountains, comfort stations, and Tourist and Convention Bureau buildings, along with many beautiful trees. In 1978, the City converted the park into a brick-paved plaza, and completed additional work in 1986 that transformed the area into a single-level, pedestrian-oriented mall. Due to its centralized location, the plaza has long been a part of the downtown experiences for both tourists and local citizens.

Helio Oiticica (1937-1980) foi um dos mais criativos artistas plásticos brasileiros. A síntese de sua obra são seus belos "Parangolés" (1964): capas, estandartes ou bandeiras coloridas de algodão ou náilon com poemas em tinta sobre o tecido a serem vestidas ou carregadas pelo ator/espectador, que passa a perceber seu corpo transformado em dança. Quase uma poesia, pois a obra de arte só se revela quando alguém a manuseia, a movimenta.

No dia 29 de novembro de 1873, o extinto jornal "Dezenove de Dezembro" publicava a seguinte matéria: "Convido os habitantes desta cidade, de todas as nacionalidades para uma reunião que deve ter lugar amanhã na casa da Câmara municipal, ás 16 horas, a fim de tratar de fundar um Clube de corridas de cavalos".
O chamado era feito pelo hipólogo brasileiro Luiz Jácome de Abreu e Souza, destacado pela imprensa na época como "A Alma do Turfe Paranaense". Esse gaúcho, fácil fazedor de amigos e grande domador de cavalos era sempre pronto a mostrar suas perícias em praça pública, permaneceu na Província 73 dias com a finalidade de organizar o Club de Corridas Paranaense, desejo que acabou sendo consolidado.

A Cidade das Artes é um complexo cultural localizado na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. O prédio escultural erguido a dez metros do chão, no coração da Barra da Tijuca, projeto do arquiteto francês Christian de Portzamparc, abriga um dos mais importantes e completos espaços para a representação das artes. Aqui, música, teatro, cinema, dança, artes plásticas, e outras manifestações artísticas brasileiras e de todos os povos, têm acolhida de excelência que transformou o lugar em um grande centro de valorização da cultura, com solo fértil para a formação de plateia. A ideia de converter em Cidade das Artes o projeto original surgiu de uma conversa entre o Prefeito Eduardo Paes e o presidente da Fundação Cidade das Artes e ex-Secretário Municipal de Cultura, Emílio Kalil. Inaugurado parcialmente no final da administração anterior, o complexo de salas de espetáculos ganhou vida nova com a decisão de ampliar e modernizar seu campo de atuação para atender a todas as classes artísticas e sociais da cidade, e não apenas a área da música.

Tudo começou em 1945, quando os caminhões pau-de-arara, vindos de vários estados do Nordeste, chegavam ao Campo de São Cristóvão trazendo retirantes nordestinos para trabalhar na construção civil, onde já tinham vaga garantida.
O encontro dos recém-chegados com parentes e outros conterrâneos era animado com música e comida nordestinas, dando origem à Feira de São Cristóvão. Durante 58 anos, a tradicional Feira permaneceu no Campo de São Cristóvão, debaixo das árvores. Em 2003, as barracas foram transferidas para dentro do antigo Pavilhão, que foi reformado pela Prefeitura do Rio e transformado no Centro Municipal Luiz Gonzaga de Tradições Nordestinas. Hoje, a Feira de São Cristóvão tem boa infra-estrutura de limpeza e segurança, com banheiros públicos e estacionamento. São cerca de 700 barracas fixas, que oferecem as várias modalidades da cultura nordestina: culinária, artesanato, trios e bandas de forró, dança, cantores e poetas populares, repente e literatura de cordel.

Na área compreendida entre o Clube Piraquê e o heliporto, o Parque do Patins pode ser uma boa opção de lazer com diversas atividades que vão desde patinação a shows simultâneos nos quiosques em seu entorno. Ali, pode-se também saborear as mais diversas especialidades da cozinha internacional.
