Conceived by Bobbi Petri, Dance upon a time.... is the premier social dance studio in Queens and the Long Island area. Since its inception, our studio has attracted students from all over the tri-state area; we try to provide the highest quality of instruction available in a professional, yet relaxed and fun learning environment. Our ballroom, one of the largest among the NY area dance studios, regularly holds dance events of over 150-250 people; it can be partitioned into as many as 4 separate classrooms that can, depending on the dance, easily accommodate dozens of students in each.

“Gotta Dance” Studio opened its doors on September 15, 2001. Owner, Miss Terri as she is known by her students, starting dancing at the age of 5 and always dreamed, that one day, she would open her own studio. She continued taking dance classes and was also a member of a local community theatre group for many years. There she was able to learn and develop not only her love of dance, but also her love for music, singing and acting. The performing arts has always been a big part of Miss Terri's life.
Mr. Ron & Miss Terri decided the time had come for them to fulfill the life long “Dream” and together they started searching for the perfect place. Their hope was to find a small studio where students could come and learn to love dance & music while having fun in a friendly and safe environment. Today, they are very proud of their accomplishments and are extremely grateful to all the wonderful families who have touched their lives. The American Theater Dance began in 1982 as The American Dancemachine, a professional company and school, whose mission it was to reconstruct, perform and preserve the great dance numbers from Broadway shows. When founder/director Lee Theodore died in 1986, we became The American Theater Dance Workshop.
