"Whiskey Ed" Houdek first opened the doors to Ye Olde Spirit Shoppe in 1965. Back then he'd deliver mail for the Bayport Post Office during the day and at night he'd work selling fine liquors and wine. In 1972 Ed doubled the size of the store making it so long and narrow that you could fit four lanes of bowling within the store's walls. But instead of balls and pins, we have the area's largest selection of fine wines and liquors.

In the tasting room you may choose from two flights of wine tasting ranging from 4 to 8 wines per flight. A tasting is a small serving, about half an ounce. The Paumanok flight is $6 per person, the Grand Vintage flight is $10 per person. With the purchase of three bottles or more, your tasting fee will be credited toward your purchase.
