Bike New York has announced dates and details for the 2013 TD Five Boro Bike Tour, held Sunday, May 5, 2013. The Tour will be returning to a “rush” first-come, first-serve registration system which will open on Tuesday, January 22 at 12:00 p.m. EST.
Held annually the first Sunday in May, the TD Five Boro Bike Tour is America’s largest cycling event with a 40 mile, traffic-free ride through all five boroughs for 32,000 cyclists. The Tour is co-produced by Bike New York, the city’s premiere bicycling organization, and the New York City Department of Transportation, in association with multiple City of New York departments. Proceeds from the event fund Bike New York’s education programs. Bike New York, aka The Five Boro Bike tour, is the largest event of it's kind in the United States. Every year on the first Sunday of May, over 30,000 riders participate in the 42 mile ride around New York City. The closed route takes riders through all five boros of New York City, across five major bridges, and finally across New York Harbor on the Staten Island ferry.
The tour runs north up the Avenue of the Americas (6th avenue) past Macy's and past the lions of the New York City Public Library before entering Central Park. After exiting the park the tour crosses into the Bronx for a short 2 mile stretch before getting back to Manhattan and onto the FDR Drive. The FDR stretch of the tour runs south through Manhattan under Gracie Mansion before crossing the East River via Queensboro Bridge into Queens where the tour enters Astoria park. Source

September - Oklahoma State Fair, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation that serves the people of Oklahoma and is dedicated to continuing the organization's heritage of education, entertainment and economic development through the operation of State Fair Park and the annual Oklahoma State Fair.

“The 2006 ARIZONA BALLOON FESTIVAL-CHANDLER (R)” and a "BOOO-Looning" Halloween event with more than 50 colorful hot-air balloons will participate in thrilling competition. The balloons will rise from the fields of Tumbleweed Park and compete in a Hare and Hound contest. Spectators are allowed to walk on the field and watch the balloons inflate and lift off. Photo taking is invited. DESERT GLOWS on Friday and Saturday evenings, October 27th & 28th, as a field full of illuminated, tethered, hot air balloons will glow in time to music.

October - Spirit of Humanity Festival celebrates the positive from across the nation. It applauds the resilience of the human spirit. With a festival, it honors the super hero in all of us. With projects like Senior Speak and New Orleans Y.E.S! - Central City Voices, it allows us to gain a deeper appreciation for those in our surrounding neighborhoods. With holistic workshops, it teaches ways we can harness our energies and handle tragedies in a healthy manner. In New Orleans, survivors trickle back and add to the momentum of a city struggling to stand on its own. Returnees have a desire to keep the old spirit of the city alive while creating a better place for themselves and their families. Many are looking for ways to put the pieces of their lives back together. But all who return refuse to give up hope. They refuse to have their spirits broken. They exemplfy the Spirit of Humanity. Every day, people are living, laughing, and loving in the face of adversity. Every day, someone somewhere is struggling to survive and winning. Sometimes, the struggle is lost, but the battle itself serves as an inspiration or motivation to others. The Spirit of Humanity Festival is a celebration to honor all those who have, who are, or who will be willing to put up a fight to survive and win.

Grounds For Sculpture is a 35-acre public sculpture park located in Hamilton, NJ, featuring over 250 contemporary sculptures. Plus gallery exhibits, exquisite dining, exciting performances, and workshops for all.

September - The Vistas Film Festival is dedicated to highlighting Latino culture and involvement in the film arts by providing public exposure for Latino artists and their work. Since its inception in 1999, the festival has presented more than 250 films from across the world.

The Emmy Awards are United States television production awards, similar to the Peabody Awards but more focused on entertainment. Shirley Dinsdale has the distinction of receiving the very first Emmy in the first awards ceremony. The Emmy Awards trophies are currently made by a private company with a manufacturing site at the maximum security El Dorado Correctional Facility, in El Dorado, Kansas. The statuette of a winged woman holding an atom has since become the symbol of the TV Academy's goal of supporting and uplifting the art and science of television: The wings represent the muse of art; the atom the electron of science. The VII Cine Fest Petrobras Brasil-NY, an official event of New York summer, is back to Manhattan between August 02 and 07, to present the best Brazilian films from 2008/2009.
It not only offers great visibility to Brazilian culture, but the Cine Fest Petrobras Brasil-NY has an important role in the development of new business and partnerships, by introducing our audiovisual products to the American market.
This year the schedule includes the opening night at Central Park with a show and an outdoor screening, the competitive screenings of feature-films, Reavealing the Brasis series and a lounge with DJ at the Tribeca Cinemas.
The Crystal Lens Award will be presented to the best feature-film as chosen by the public.

2012 marks the 64th Virginia Highlands Festival and will be held from July 28 to August 12. Appalachian culture showcased in crafts, art and music.
The festival was started in 1948 by Robert Porterfield, founder of the Barter Theatre, as a simple one-week festival to showcase Appalachian arts and crafts. The festival has now grown into a 16 day event offering a variety of venues. Every year hundreds of volunteers work to create exciting new events for our festival for you to enjoy. The 2012 theme, "Carved from Our Past." Our 2012 signature art is a wood carving by this year's Signature Artist, John Dickens and will be unveiled soon. Please enjoy our beautiful mountains, forests, and streams while here and all the activities planned for you throughout Southwest Virginia. There is something everyone, old and young alike. The Holidazzle is a huge holiday extravaganza. The 30-minute parade winds down Nicollet Mall each night starting the Friday after Thanksgiving. It starts on 12th Street and runs along the mall to 5th Street. Parade-goers are greeted by storybook characters, lighted floats, musical groups, marching bands and other surprises. Of course, Santa Claus and his brightly lit sleigh anchor this winter celebration.
