Green Acres Mall first opened in 1956 as one of Long Island's first open-air centers serving the needs of numerous communities. The newly built Centre at Salisbury was able to attract slightly more upscale establishments that was lacking at the Salisbury Mall, including amenities that were standard at most regional shopping malls, like a food court, and a modern 10 screen multi-plex theater (later 16 screens). Broadway Mall (formerly Mid-Island Plaza) debuted in October, 1956, on the site of a former boys' orphanage and a dairy and vegetable farm operated by the Catholic Church. Richard and Anne Evers, who have lived in Hicksville for 50 years, remember the anticipation of Mid-Island's grand opening. Greenville Mall was originally built as a strip center named Pitt Plaza. The center was enclosed in the 1980s as a response to construction of Carolina East Mall and named The Plaza. It was subsequently renamed Colonial Mall Greenville when purchased by Colonial Properties Trust. The purchase of the mall by GG&A in 2007 resulted in the name being changed to Greenville Mall. Zona Rosa is an approximately 500,000 square feet, mixed-use (retail, office and residential) development located in Kansas City, Platte County, Missouri. Four Seasons Town Centre is a three-story shopping mall in Greensboro, North Carolina. Currently anchored by Belk, Dillard's and JCPenney; it was the first enclosed shopping mall in Greensboro. Currently, it is the only indoor shopping mall within Greensboro's city limits; however, nearby Friendly Center, an outdoor shopping plaza, has many of the same tenants. It is also the only three-story shopping mall in North Carolina, though some department stores at two- or one-story malls have multiple stories. Four Seasons today is managed by General Growth Properties. The shopping mall is located at the I-40 interchange with High Point Road, south of downtown. Source
