Buena Park Downtown, formerly Buena Park Mall, is an enclosed shopping mall located in Buena Park, California, adjacent to the Knott's Berry Farm theme park. The mall is anchored by Bed Bath & Beyond, DSW Shoe Warehouse, Ross Dress For Less, Sears, Steve & Barry's, 24 Hour Fitness, and Wal-Mart. The mall opened in 1961 and is currently managed by Developers Diversified Realty. The mall also has stores across the street with Petsmart, Office Depot, Kohl's and Circuit City as primary tenants. The mall has four levels, each of which is approximately the shape of a rectangle. BJ's and Home Depot are not accessible from the mall itself. BJ's is on the bottom level, with Home Depot built on top of it and Target on top of that. The site currently occupied by Oak Ridge City Center was selected by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission to establish a permanent shopping center in the years following World War II. In 1951 the AEC selected a company headed by Guilford Glazer to build the new shopping center. A shortage of steel resulting from the Korean War delayed construction, but the Downtown Shopping Center opened in 1955. This shopping area was considered a replacement for the former "townsite" area around Jackson Square.
