Having spent my first career in education and been a lover of good books, I hoped my next career would include books. I have always believed every town should have their own community bookstore, a place filled with good books, the type that get people to feel, to think, discuss, laugh and enjoy. To prepare for this goal, I worked part-time at a bookstore and learned the day to day operations. I took a course on the essentials of opening a quality bookstore and visited as many bookstores in New Jersey as I could. I found many bookstore owners to be both warm and generous with their time. Many of these owners have become close colleagues and remain a strong network helping my own bookstore, thrive and grow.

The Town Book Store has been serving Westfield and neighboring communities since 1934. According to the American Booksellers Association, we are the last independent book store located in Union County, New Jersey. Serving a growing number of colleges and universities for their course-book needs, taking a hands-on approach to assuring that students get their books. Labyrinth Books stores are as densely packed as is the knowledge in the books. These are places in which to get lost in the best of ways: so you can find what you didn't know you were looking for. The stores are conceived as sites for an ongoing exchange of ideas with a full program of author-events.

The stores are unlike any other bookstore in the area. Hot Pink, Purple, Apple Green, Turquoise are just a few of the bright colors to put a smile on your face as you enter. The many windows allow plenty of natural light for reading and tons of sunshine for the trees and plants to thrive. Comfy sofas and plenty of seating invite you to stay a while and relax... or just hang out and watch the fish in the tank swim around and around and around.

"We will travel anywhere to buy your books. We regularly purchase collections from estates, libraries and people who have more books than can fit on their shelves... In many cases, a family member passes away, and relatives have no idea what to do with their books. We will come to you and buy everything sight unseen. We move the books, We will transport them and pay you on the spot. We also purchase antiques and paper ephemera."
