The MetroTech Business Improvement District (BID) is a non-profit community development organization founded in 1992 to further revitalization of Downtown Brooklyn.
Based at MetroTech Center, the BID provides public safety, sanitation, economic development, marketing and-promotional services throughout a 25-block District made up of diverse businesses, universities and government agencies.

The Manhattan Mall, one of the few traditional indoor malls in New York City, is located at 33rd Street and Sixth Avenue. There are entrances to the 34th Street-Herald Square subway station and the 33rd Street PATH station on the second basement level.
The mall is located in the high-rise building formerly used by the Gimbels flagship store, which closed in 1986. Over a hundred years ago, Victoria Ward and her husband Curtis Perry Ward, shared a unique business partnership and created an estate extending from Thomas Square to the shore. Their former home, "Old Plantation", is the site of Blaisdell Concert Hall.
