Founded by artistic director Diana Byer in 1978 as the official training school of New York Theatre Ballet. The School teaches dance as a total art form, developing strong technical skill and discipline…fluidity and ease of movement…and a strong sense of theater, style, musicality, and expression. She was certified by Enrico Cecchetti and served as director of instruction at BSNY for many years until her retirement in 1987.

Every BodiBalance class contains aspects of the uniquely designed Floor WarmUp and the Movement Principles that make up the BodiBalance experience. Apply these tools to dance exercises and choreography and take your dancing to heights of free and energetic flow.

Karine Newborn was born and raised in Paris France where she studied ballet with teachers from the Paris conservatory and The Paris Opera, she also studied jazz, modern, placement and voice. At the age of 15 she started working in some of the most renowned modern jazz companies in Paris and performed in "Cats" (Paris). She continued her career in France until she moved to America to pursue bigger dreams. She worked as a dancer,Choreographer and dance teacher for well over 2 decades, and had the joy of performing in many stage shows ("Golden Boys", "Cats", "Aida" (Broadway) and numerous music videos & movies ("South Pacific" with Glenn Close, "Do You Want To Dance" etc.) trade show industrial (Nike, Asix, Abba & many more).

The School reflects the spirit of the Mark Morris Dance Group in its celebration of dance and music. We believe that the study of various dance forms and music is essential to a child's education and development. Side Street Kids, Inc is a not for profit organization founded in 1996 and based in the Bronx.
