The history of Santo Rico dates back to 1995. The name of the dance company is derived from the initial members of the group being half from Santo Domingo (Santo) and half from Puerto Rico (Rico), hence the name "Santo Rico." Santo Rico was initially formed by Wilton Beltre, a Dominican native, who expressed his love for dance by displaying his street style of dancing Mambo/Salsa in local nightclubs in New York City. Prior to forming Santo Rico, Wilton received dancing instruction from the well renowned Eddie Torres. This gave him professionalism, grace and ultimately led to the development of a unique style. During his stint with Mr. Torres Wilton excelled and brought his dancing ability to such a high level that he became one of the most outstanding members of The Eddie Torres Dance Company.

With facilities all over the world, the original Fred Astaire Dance Studio was founded in New York in 1947. Side Street Kids, Inc is a not for profit organization founded in 1996 and based in the Bronx. The organization provides in-school children, K-12, with positive alternatives during non school hours in the greater NY metropolitan area. Empowering youth with the necessary skills to understand and appreciate the importance of education, positive family interaction and cultural awareness through dance.

Founded under the basis of love and adoration for dance. From the very first class taught in 2003, each studio room, faculty member, and student wreaked the passion for dance. Owner Stefanie Salaman has devoted herself to building a studio of excellence and pure respect to the dance education. The dance educators at Performers Edge are dedicated to giving each and every student the personal attention they deserve and support they need to continue as well as enjoy their dance experience. <br> Performers Edge is located in the heart of Throgs Neck where there is much of a family oriented environment. He was born July 3,1950 in the same hospital as Tito Puente; raised by his Puerto Rican parents in Spanish Harlem, a.k.a. El Barrio, New York City. Torres's mother, a hospital worker; his father an inventive plumber, sparked Eddie's knack for inventing. No dancers or musicians in the gene pool to Eddie's best knowledge.

The history of the Arthur Murray Franchised Dance studios began in 1912 with a man named Arthur Murray, an American symbol of entrepreneurial success and social dancing. Murray was among the first to use advertising techniques considered cutting edge at the time. His concept of selling dance lessons by mail, one step at a time, took the use of direct mail to a new level.

Conceived by Bobbi Petri, Dance upon a time.... is the premier social dance studio in Queens and the Long Island area. Since its inception, our studio has attracted students from all over the tri-state area; we try to provide the highest quality of instruction available in a professional, yet relaxed and fun learning environment. Our ballroom, one of the largest among the NY area dance studios, regularly holds dance events of over 150-250 people; it can be partitioned into as many as 4 separate classrooms that can, depending on the dance, easily accommodate dozens of students in each.

Established in 1986, Deneille's Dance & Exercise Studio opened it's doors with the intension of teaching each and every single student on an individual basis; concentrating on a students particular strenghts and interests offering a complete and quality curriculum in all areas of dance. 23 years later while the world has changed in many ways our standard of excellence remains. Although we have adapted to the modern world, we still insist on teaching and training with a good old fashined touch; that includes knowing every one of our students by their first name and knowing something special about them. Diva Dance is a studio that sets itself apart from the rest. We offer a fun and friendly atmosphere with super Diva style that offers dance classes to ages 1 1/2 through adult. Class Levels range from beginner level just starting out in the world of dance all the way to professional level of training for the serious dancer. Diva Dance offers so many classes on six different days making it easier to fit your busy schedule. Classes include Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Mommy & Me, Belly Dancing, Salsa, Mommy Jazz Funk, Hip-Hop, Acro, Broadway Jazz/Tap, All Boys Classes, Contemporary, and our award winning Diva Dance competition team.

The directors, Nana and Fred Albee, have operated a successful dance school for over 36 years. As professional dancers, Nana performed with the American Ballet Theatre, then on Broadway in the production of "The Music Man", where she met Fred. Afterwards, they set out as a dance team and performed as soloists at Radio City Music Hall, appeared in Las Vegas and on national TV shows. Fred has assisted choreographer Danny Daniels ("Pennies from Heaven", "Tap Dance Kid") many times and taught the children's program for the "Tap Dance Kid", where one of his students was Savion Glover. Stars they have taught include: Gilda Radner, Olivia Newton John and Marisa Tomei. Marisa was a student of theirs for many years.

The original center for dance, musical theatre and performance in Park Slope for both Children and Adults. In September we begin our 34th year of business in this community. Our facility, new construction in 2007, is located at 630 Sackett Street (between 3rd and 4th Avenues) and offers: large, state of the art dance floors - both floating and sprung, central air conditioning and heating, storefront access for ease with strollers, less street congestion for those who drive, public transportation 1 block away on both buses and subway and close to schools in Park Slope, Carroll Gardens and Gowanus neighborhoods.

Ms. King began dancing professionally in 1978 and has been teaching and choreographing since 1986. She directed the dance departments of St. Peter School, St. Mary and Holy Rosary Schools in Jersey City and has taught in Brooklyn at P.S. 315, School of Performing Arts, Poly Prep, Maple Street School, I.S. 62 Performing Arts Department, Flatbush Tompkins, Bridge Street Head Start, and even the Fort Hamilton Army Base. Ms. King has been credited by the Department of Education with developing "one of the most comprehensive dance programs in the district."

When you enter the doors of this 5000 square foot studio, you are taken back by the interior décor. Not expecting a dance studio to look like this, the interior boasts leather walls, fabric cushions, sconces, slate floors, zebra carpet and an array of vivid colors that move everyone to want to dance. The décor alone makes you want to jump. Each dance room is equipped with floating floors - two hard wood and one Mylar : 3000 square foot of pure dance space; two lobbies, four bathrooms, vending machines, an office, 10 foot mirror walls, incredible sound, warehouse style ceilings, lighting and funky brick walls to top off this real live Manhattan style space. L.A. Dance is not just a fun place to learn to dance; it’s the hottest thing in town. It’s the coolest place to be and it’s totally up with the times. The students are proud to call this home.
