The Staten Island Ferry ride is the most widely visited tourist attraction in the City of New York, yet rarely do visitors embark from the ferry and investigate the surrounding area.

The only borough-wide historic preservation organization in New York City. Organized in 1977, the PLSI’s mission is to: enrich Staten Island’s sense of community by promoting and advocating the conservation of its diverse and significant historic built environment and cultural landscapes. It has been active in advocating for preservation through various programs including a yearly awards program, a newsletter on preservation issues, home tours and technical assistance.
