The New York Knickerbockers, known as the Knicks, are one of only two charter members of the National Basketball Association still in their original cities (the other being the Boston Celtics). The Knicks were among the league's elite in three different eras, each separated by about two decades. In the early 1950s New York played for the NBA title three times.
