A private not-for-profit corporation which exists to provide natural science education services for Long Island residents of all ages and to engage in native wildlife rehabilitation services. Through education and examples, ECSS encourages responsible decision making, appreciation, and respect for the unique wildlife and ecosystems found on Long Island.<br> Sweetbriar Nature Center is situated on 54 acres of varied garden, woodland, field and wetland habitats on the Nissequogue River. Hundreds of species of plants and animals make homes here.

Perched along the Peconic River on Main Street in Riverhead, this full-scale aquarium draws visitors into an immersive underwater world filled with captivating marine creatures and hands-on discovery. Playful seals make their entrance memorable right from the start, welcoming guests into the themed Lost City experience where exploration unfolds at every turn. The real magic happens when you board the Atlantis Explorer, a river tour that takes you out onto the water to witness Long Island's natural ecosystem firsthand. Winter brings a quieter, more intimate feel to these excursions—fewer crowds mean you'll spot wildlife without the seasonal bustle. Whether you want to get soaked or stay dry is entirely your call. Beyond the exhibits and tours, the facility partners closely with Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program and anchors New York State's only authorized marine animal stranding and rehabilitation center. The Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation operates from this location, making education and conservation core to everything that happens here.

Island Rock is a state of the art indoor rock climbing facility built by Solid Rock Wall Systems. This type of construction creates a unique, seamless climbing surface that is the closest thing to real rock you can find without bringing the real thing inside. Island Rock offers climbing for all ages and abilities, and has walls geared towards first time climbers who want to explore their old passion for climbing trees to the experienced, expert climber who climbs and competes all over the world. Whatever your level of skill, we have something for you!

Belmont Park is a 430-acre racetrack in Elmont, N.Y. There are two race meetings at Belmont Park in 2012: the 56-day Spring/Summer meeting will be from April 27 to July 15; and the 37-day Fall Championship meeting will be from Sept. 8 to Oct. 28. Belmont Park is the home of the 144th Running of the Belmont Stakes on Saturday June 9, 2012.
