For three decades, Sheldon Elliott Ruskin has been passing down the discipline of traditional Shotokan karate to students of all levels. His credentials run deep—holding certifications through both the Japan Karate Association in Tokyo and the International Shotokan Karate Federation, with six years of direct training experience in Japan itself. As a former US National Karate Champion, he's guided countless young athletes toward their own competitive victories at regional and national tournaments. Winter evenings bring a particular focus to the dojo, where the quiet intensity of training contrasts with the stillness outside, making it an ideal season to commit to building a solid foundation in the fundamentals.

Located in Park Slope, this traditional Shotokan Karate dojo has been teaching disciplined martial arts since 1972 under the guidance of Sensei Shu Takahashi, a 7th dan instructor with decades of experience. Master Vincent A. Affatigato is a 7th degree black belt with 30 years of martial arts experience. He is a Certified International Instructor with the International Taekwon-do Federation, has been teaching as a head instructor for 20 years, and has been an officer of the United States Taekwon-do Federation since 1996.

Zaragoza Boxing is a place where everybody takes their job seriously mainly amateurs and professionals that compete in tournaments as a golden glove and prize fights. This is a classic gym where everybody feels comfortable. We have a big ring, heavybags, speedbags, no machines. We offer a full service of sport massages.

In 1963 Professor Bill Mcloud's martial arts training started when he began boxing at the "Police Athletic League" (PAL). He boxed in various PAL's learning the fundamentals of the art of boxing, but one of the places he enjoyed going to box was at St. John's recreation center in Brooklyn.
