This is a part of the story of Bicycle Habitat. Charlie’s passion for bikes began in January of 1969 when he started commuting from his parent’s apartment in Windsor Terrace to Cooper Union in the East Village where he attended school. <br> January seems like a strange time to buy a bike and start riding. It took an intense dissatisfaction with the subway system and encouragement from fellow classmate and future founder of Performance Cycles Product, Francis Bollag, but Charlie’s inspiration to ride was unstoppable. He hardly ever took the train again.
