Bristol Mall is the only regional shopping mall serving Bristol, Virginia. The mall was built in the early to mid 1970s. Tysons Corner Center, located in the Tysons Corner unincorporated area in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States (near McLean), opened to the public in 1968, becoming one of the first fully enclosed, climate-controlled shopping centers in the greater Washington area. (The fully enclosed Iverson Mall in Hillcrest Heights, Maryland, opened in 1967.) It is the largest shopping mall in the state and in the Baltimore-Washington area. <br> There are plans to extend the Washington Metro subway westward to Tysons Corner and eventually out to Dulles Airport. Stony Point Fashion Park is an inviting open-air mall with a dynamic mix of world-class merchants that include many of the fashion industry's most coveted retailers. Dillard's opened at Willow Lawn in 1998, replacing the former Belk. This Dillard's did not last long, however, and was closed by 2004. The former Dillard's was soon replaced with Gold's Gym and Ross Dress For Less. Barnes & Noble, which opened in the 1990s, moved out in 2000 and was replaced with Staples.<br> Federal Realty began a renovation of the mall in 2005, taking a portion of the enclosed mall and returning it to an open-air strip. Also in 2005, Ben Franklin Crafts (which was formerly an outparcel) and K & G Fashion Superstore moved into the mall, the latter replacing most of the food court.
