West Acres Shopping Center is a regional shopping center located in the city of Fargo, North Dakota near the intersection of Interstates 29 and 94. The name of the mall is often shortened to just West Acres. It is the largest mall in the state and includes four major anchors, more than 120 smaller stores, and a 750 seat food court. The mall is also home to The Roger Maris Museum, a collection of regional art, the Touchstone Energy Dinosaur Playland, and a collection of spearfishing decoys created by the late John Jensen.
A centerpiece since the mall opened in 1972 is the Fountain of Abundance, created by (and refurbished by) Moorhead State University art professor, P. Richard Szeitz. The fountain was originally located in front of what is now Macy's, but was moved in front of J.C. Penney around the same time the food court was constructed. Source

Considered the first successful adaptive re-use project in the country, was originally a chocolate factory established by Domenico “Domingo” Ghirardelli. The chocolate manufacturing operation was sold and transferred to San Leandro in the 1960s. Unique shops and restaurants were created within the old factory combining the latest in retailing and fine cuisine with the flavor of old San Francisco. The restoration project officially opened on November 29, 1964.
Today, Ghirardelli Square delights visitors with its lively retail mix, while maintaining Ghirardelli’s tradition as a trendsetter for the rest of the world. It continues to serve as a model for restoration complexes throughout the country such as Faneuil Hall Marketplace in Boston and Baltimore’s Harborplace. |

The shopping center is part of a more than $500 million investment, surrounded by the Kansas Speedway, Nebraska Furniture Mart, Great Wolf Lodge, Phoenix Theatres at the Legends 14, Cabela's and CommunityAmerica Ballpark. The Legends at Village West is still an ongoing project as there are still many more developments still planned, including a $705 million Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The shopping center offers more than 110 retail/restaurant outlets including Dave & Busters and a Saddle Ranch Chop House, one of only five in the United States.
The Legends at Village West includes an audio walking tour of the more than 80 Kansans who are represented visually on medallions, posters, murals and in sculpture throughout the center. The Legends honors legends of Kansas in athletics, music, exploration, science, technology, politics, art and other fields. The Legends theme is interwoven throughout the facility, offering information about Kansas’ history, heritage and environment. Each corridor and courtyard of the center is dedicated to a particular category of famous Kansans or aspect of the state and its history. Beginning February 1, 2007, a free self-guided audio tour will lead visitors through each corridor, providing information about the legends and the artistic representations in which they are depicted. The only enclosed, super-regional mall in California’s Central Valley, Vintage Faire continues to solidify its position as the area’s preeminent shopping destination. A key factor in the center’s success is its location adjacent to Hwy 99, a natural geographic destination for retailers expanding from Sacramento to Los Angeles. To ensure the mall’s market dominance, Macerich completed a $10 million renovation in Spring 2002 and is now developing plans for the addition of a lifestyle center.
