Through 35 years of teaching experience, Darwin Haynes has developed a well rounded, traditional martial arts program that is rooted in Tang Soo Do, but includes techniques and theories gathered from many different styles of Martial arts. These include Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, Muy Thai, and modern Law Enforcement and Military concepts. We believe that any style may have something useful to offer, and because we do not limit ourselves to one small minded curriculum our style is constantly evolving and becoming even more complete.

Some historians of Jiu-Jitsu say that the origins of "the gentle art" can be traced back to India, where it was practiced by Buddhist Monks. Concerned with self-defense, these monks created techniques based upon principles of balance and leverage, and a system of manipulating the body in a manner where one could avoid relying upon strength or weapons. With the expansion of Buddhism, Jiu-Jitsu spread from Southeast Asia to China, finally arriving in Japan where it developed and gained further popularity.

Warren Levi Karate & Fitness offers mixed martial arts, but specializes in the traditional style of Shotokan Karate. The specialization in a traditional style of karate enables one to develop co-ordination, discipline, balance and timing. An added benefit of taking part in karate as a sport is the accompanying weight loss and improved body definition. Adults and children, irrespective of age, do not need to be fit or athletic or even coordinated to start karate.

Gabriel Sensei lived and trained in Japan from 1973-1978. While in Japan, he trained at the Aikikai Hombu Dojo under the direction of Kishomaru Ueshiba. Gabriel Sensei also studied privately with Masuda Shihan at this time. He has been a self-defense instructor to supreme court justices in Beirut, Lebanon. Gabriel Sensei is the founder of Aikikai in Lebanon with headquarters in Beirut as well as the official Aikikai representative for that region.

Okinawa Karate Kobudo Kai is an organization dedicated to traditional training in Okinawan kenpo karate and kobudo based in Long Island, New York. The chief instructor is Sensei Serge Clark.

Why New Generation Karate? Imagine there were a physical activity, that you liked doing, that you could still do and get better at as you got older, that would give you energy, confidence, and focus, that you could do a couple times a week, that would get you off the couch, out of the house. Would you do it?

The man most responsible for the systemization of Karate as we know it today was Gichin Funakoshi. He was born in Shuri, Okinawa in 1886. When he was only a boy of 11, he began to study (then known as "Okinawa-te") under the top two masters of the art at the time. Azato and Itosu. In time, he became a Karate expert in his own right. He is credited with being the first man to introduce Karate to Japan proper, when he gave expositions sponsored by the Ministry of Education. The art soon caught on in Japan, and Funakoshi traveled throughout the country giving lectures and demonstrations. The main universities invited him to help them set up Karate teams, and hundreds of persons studies the art under his guidance. In 1957, Master Funakoshi, the father of modern Karate, passed away at the advanced age of 89, leaving thousands of students to carry his spirit. In Karate, Funakoshi was also a poet under his pen name "Shoto:, meaning "Pine trees in the sand" The style of karate which is taught then became known as "Shotokan Karate".

Since 1989, East Coast Black Belt Academy/Long Island Budokai has been providing instruction in Karate and the martial arts in the Middle Island, NY area.

Bob Klein began studying healing, meditation, Tai-chi and Kung-fu since the 1960’s. <br> He received his Tai-chi-Chuan teaching certificate from Grandmaster William C. C. Chen in 1975. He also studied with healers from several nature-oriented cultures.

After relocating to Patchogue, the studio is charting a new course by embracing a nonprofit structure that draws inspiration from the legendary martial traditions of ancient China.
