Lorraine Massey, was born in Leichester, England, and started cutting hair in a local salon at age 13. "I went to the salon every day after school, and as often as I could on weekends. I couldn't get enough." At 16, she went to study with Martin Smith, the artistic director of Remi-Toni & Guy, and at 19, took her scissors and went traveling - to Hong Kong, Japan, and the Philippines - where she lived in a hut and cut hair on the beach.

Sparkle Beauty Studio, a space dedicated to the art of hair cutting, coloring and makeup is located in the heart of the West Village. Owned by renowned artists Gabriel Trujillo and Jeffrey Fernandez, this intimate studio is reminiscent of a backstage hair and makeup room on a Hollywood set.

Where vintage glamour meets modern mixology, this mashup concept launched back in 1995 when someone spotted potential in a forty-year-old beauty parlor and decided to flip the script entirely. The space keeps those iconic chrome-domed hair dryers front and center—relics from the days when blue-haired regulars claimed their favorite stations—but now they frame a scene that blends beauty treatments with craft cocktails. Winter crowds pile in to escape the chill, finding warmth in the quirky collision of salon chair nostalgia and bar culture. The crowd that walks through those doors today is as unpredictable and colorful as the space itself, all drawn to something you genuinely won't find anywhere else.

The little jem of a salon was stablished over a decade ago. The stylists create fabulous cutting and colouring for men and women. They are attentive, relaxed and friendly.
