O grupo IETUR originou-se do Instituto de Estudos Turísticos do Rio de Janeiro fundado em Agosto de 1981, como resultado do acúmulo de experiências e know-how desenvolvidos através dos laboratórios de Turismo e dos programas práticos de Micro-Agência e Micro-hotel, pioneiros no gênero, desenvolvidos a partir da segunda metade dos anos 70.
Hoje, o Instituto de Estudos Turísticos do Rio de Janeiro ministra regularmente Cursos no Rio de Janeiro, Cursos em Belo Horizonte, Cursos e/ou Treinamentos para Empresas e Instituições em todo o Brasil.
