The Berkeley Carroll School's college-preparatory academic program emphasizes critical thinking, informed decision-making, and life-long learning. Under the guidance of dynamic and energetic teachers, students are challenged to stretch their imaginations, discover creative resources, and strive to fulfill their intellectual promise. The school has four educational divisions - the Child Care Center, Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School.

In 1984, Townsend Harris was reopened with a new location and student body but the same spirit and desires as before. Beginning with the first new class, a tradition of expressing this spirit is found in the pledge the Townsend Harris student makes during his or her first year, known as the Ephebic Oath. The present school has had, from its inception, this rich tradition supported by an active group of alumni. The alumni arrange internships for students, serve as advisors and mentors and raise funds for special projects.

The staff of Samuel J. Tilden High School is a staff committed to excellence. This excellence will be evidenced in the development of out future leaders. It is our plan to insure that the young people that graduate from these portals are prepared with the social and academic skills necessary to achieve in an ever changing, technologically developing world.
Within our young people we will reinforce the positive values that they bring from their homes and their communities. As they develop a sense of self-worth and dignity, they will also develop a strong appreciation for their own culture and respectful tolerance for the lifestyles of others. We will reaffirm the necessity for our youth to be academically prepared, socially concerned, and intellectually discerning human beings who will feel confident and adept in an ever changing multicultural and multifaceted environment.

The United Nations International School (UNIS) was founded in 1947 by United Nations affiliated families. UNIS has a multi-national staff from 70 countries and over 1,450 students from 115 countries. The main language of instruction is English and all students study French or Spanish, beginning in the elementary school; Arabic, Chinese, German, Italian, Japanese and Russian are also taught beginning in the seventh grade; additional mother tongues may be studied after school.

The mission of Port Richmond High School is to provide all of our students with individualized challenges, opportunities, and resources, to become lifelong learners and productive, responsible citizens. We believe that all of our student population can learn and achieve at a high level of expectation given the proper attention to their individual needs.

As the oldest independent school in Queens, Kew-Forest is a “classical” school in the best sense, one that places intense focus on the basics. Our Faculty and Staff bring caring and world-class excellence and expertise to small classrooms with fine instruction and high expectations. A diverse student body represents the ethnicities, languages, religions, and cultures of the global community for which Kew-Forest School prepares them.

A comprehensive academic school, which consists of 10 small learning communities that we call houses. The strength and success of our school can be attributed in large part to these learning communities. Each house has unique electives that students take each term beginning in the Freshman year. All students pursue rigorous academic curricula that prepare them to be competitive in the college application process. Extracurricular activities and community service are significant assets in the total development of our students. Our success lies in a daily commitment by all of our members to fulfil our mission statement.

Currently, we are building a high school addition. As a result of the steady high enrollment over the past decade, SJVA was pressed to develop a strategic campus facility plan that would renovate existing buildings and increase the amount of space in our high school. Specifically, several of the oldest buildings on campus are unable to meet the space and program needs of our faculty and students. In order to maintain programs and to expand other areas of the curriculum, SJVA proposed a $5 million renovation and construction project. This will primarily consolidate the high school's academic space into a central location by enlarging and renovating the existing high school facility. A three-story wing is being built and connected to the current two-story high school. All new classrooms will be provided with "T1" Internet access lines. The project broke ground in December 2004 and is anticipated to be completed by September 2005. Of this $5 million renovation and construction project, $1 million must be raised from a capital campaign. Because St. John Villa is a private Catholic school, we do not receive public funds or money from the Archdiocese for capital projects and therefore, must seek private donations to accomplish this greatly needed project.

God the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Love, has in all truth overshadowed us and claimed us body and soul as a "prized" possession. The spirit has infused into our souls the gifts of wisdom, counsel, understanding, fortitude, knowledge, peity and fear of the Lord. Our God is willing and anxious to set our hearts on fire and to send us out into our life's work confident in love.

Jamaica High School is also located near Thomas A. Edison Vocational and Technical High School. Edison is north of Jamaica High School, separated by 84th Avenue and the Jamaica High School cutting edge and state-of-the-art Track and Football Field. Hillcrest High School is another nearby high school. Hillcrest is located at 87th Avenue and Parsons Boulevard, right near Gateway High School for the Sciences

N-12. In keeping with Dr. Allen's vision, the mission of Poly Prep Country Day School is to prepare students for college and for life by fostering learning, health, leadership, community responsibility, and, above all, character. A day-long program of academics, physical education and athletics, arts, and extracurricular activities is guided by a strong, committed faculty, in a diverse school community, on campuses with outstanding facilities.

The Garden School course of study emphasizes strong basic skills, with challenge and discovery as part of the educational process. The co-curricular experience includes sports, drama, art, music, and a commitment to community service.
Although Garden is an independent school, its low tuition, compared with others in the metro-New York area, makes it an affordable option to a broad group of families. Garden's student body reflects the ever-changing population of Queens, New York. Located in Jackson Heights, Queens, Garden School is easily accessible to students from all sections of New York City and Long Island.

Aquinas High School is a community of faith and learning which exists primarily to create an atmosphere animated by Christian principles. This community believes in the dignity of each person which is grounded in God's love for all, in a person's ability to understand in some measure all that exists, and in his or her freedom to respond to the realities of that existence. It endeavors to present the Gospel in the Catholic tradition as the best way of becoming a whole person.

Cardinal Hayes High School was built and organized by His Eminence Francis Cardinal Spellman between September, 1940 and September, 1941. Its original student body consisted of over 3000 students who attended this institution at the Main Building on the Grand Concourse or at one of the four annexes.
The school provides a quality education and religious formation for young men of the Bronx and Manhattan. Cardinal Hayes High School has been staffed since its beginning by Archdiocesan Priests, Irish Christian Brothers, De La Salle Brothers, Franciscan Brothers and Priests, Marist Brothers, Xaverian Brothers, Religious Sisters and scores of dedicated laymen and women.

Bronx Science is a place where students and faculty alike experience the excitement of the motivated mind and the Samaritan heart. The people here are of a special breed, where a little push goes a long way, an all-nighter is not uncommon, and a smile is bound to appear no matter how taxing life may be at the moment. Bronx Science is not simply an educational institution, it is a home--a home for an ever-growing family with one common goal: to advance the self and society.

Cardinal Spellman HS is generally recognized as one of the finest Catholic high school structures in the nation. Its facilities include three floors of classrooms around a beautifully landscaped, Japanese-style, garden courtyard. In May of 1999, the courtyard was dedicated to the memory of Msgr Jeremiah Monahan, who had died suddenly in October, 1998.
In addition to the regular classrooms (each having closed-circuit television) there are many fully-equipped special-purpose rooms and learning spaces: a large Gymnasium which can be partioned into two or four smaller gyms, a Cafeteria for 700, a magnificent Auditorium with backstage space and rigging better than many Broadway theaters, a separate Little Theatre, a tiered Band Room and four separate and private music-practice rooms.
