The Nightingale-Bamford School has provided a rigorous college preparatory education for girls and young women since 1920. St. Joseph Hill Academy is a K-12 Catholic school operated by the Congregation of the Daughters of Divine Charity. It is located on a fourteen acre, park-like campus in the Arrochar section of Staten Island, New York. The elementary school provides co-education for grades K-8. The United Nations International School (UNIS) was founded in 1947 by United Nations affiliated families. UNIS has a multi-national staff from 70 countries and over 1,450 students from 115 countries. The main language of instruction is English and all students study French or Spanish, beginning in the elementary school; Arabic, Chinese, German, Italian, Japanese and Russian are also taught beginning in the seventh grade; additional mother tongues may be studied after school.

In 1984, Townsend Harris was reopened with a new location and student body but the same spirit and desires as before. Beginning with the first new class, a tradition of expressing this spirit is found in the pledge the Townsend Harris student makes during his or her first year, known as the Ephebic Oath. The present school has had, from its inception, this rich tradition supported by an active group of alumni. The alumni arrange internships for students, serve as advisors and mentors and raise funds for special projects.

Cardinal Hayes High School was built and organized by His Eminence Francis Cardinal Spellman between September, 1940 and September, 1941. Its original student body consisted of over 3000 students who attended this institution at the Main Building on the Grand Concourse or at one of the four annexes.

Cardinal Spellman HS is generally recognized as one of the finest Catholic high school structures in the nation. Its facilities include three floors of classrooms around a beautifully landscaped, Japanese-style, garden courtyard. In May of 1999, the courtyard was dedicated to the memory of Msgr Jeremiah Monahan, who had died suddenly in October, 1998.
In addition to the regular classrooms (each having closed-circuit television) there are many fully-equipped special-purpose rooms and learning spaces: a large Gymnasium which can be partioned into two or four smaller gyms, a Cafeteria for 700, a magnificent Auditorium with backstage space and rigging better than many Broadway theaters, a separate Little Theatre, a tiered Band Room and four separate and private music-practice rooms.
