The Indianapolis 500-Mile Race, often shortened to Indianapolis 500 or Indy 500, is an American automobile race, held annually over the Memorial Day weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana. "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing" is one of the oldest and richest motorsport events in existence, having the largest attendance and one of the largest radio and television audiences of any single-day sporting events worldwide. While the official attendance is not disclosed by Speedway management, news media estimate attendance in excess of 270,000. The event lends its name to the "IndyCar" class of formula, or open-wheel, race cars that have competed in it. In May 2006, the race celebrated its 90th running and 61st consecutive year of uninterrupted occurrence.

September - LA Shorts Fest is the largest short film festival in the world. The Festival is accredited by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In 1984, a group of brave and loyal North Louisianans decided to take a stand. This group was tired of hearing: “You people in Shreveport are more like Texans than anything else. You’re hardly a part of Louisiana, at all.” So this daring group gathered in the Downtown Shreveport Unlimited office to organize their ranks and pay homage to the most cherished of Louisiana institutions – the crawfish boil! And this group wanted to make their crawfish boil the granddaddy of them all.

The Mermaid Parade is a completely original creation that is that nation's largest art parade and one of New York City's greatest summer events. The River to River Festival takes place each summer during the month of July, in a variety of public venues that canvas all of Downtown New York - from Chambers Street down to the southern tip of Manhattan and across the island from river to river. Riverfest is Arkansas' largest and most popular music, arts and food festival. The event is held annually over Memorial Day weekend in Julius Breckling Riverfront Park & the vibrant River Market District in Little Rock and the North Shore Riverwalk in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Produced by the Greater Mandeville Seafood Association, Inc, The Mandeville Seafood Festival, established in 1978, is the oldest festival held in St. Tammany Parish. Attendance is estimated at over ten thousand people per day, with admission at $10.00. Children ten and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Senior citizens over sixty-five are also admitted free of charge.

San Diego Brazil Carnaval is one of the largest most authentic Carnaval Event in California. The 49th Annual Grammy Awards honored the best in music of the recording year of 2006. The 2006 recording year started on October 1, 2005 and ended on September 30, 2006. The awards were handed out on Sunday February 11, 2007 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. As in most years since 2003, the ceremony did not have a host.
The only people who are allowed to vote for the Grammy Awards are those who are members of the National Academy of the Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS). Members must have worked on six albums (in terms of production, engineering, mixing, or being the recording artist). NARAS members are peers of all who submit their work to the recording Academy. NARAS members are to vote based upon the quality of the work that has been submitted. It is highly stressed to voting NARAS members not to look at sales or charts when voting. Artists, producers, engineers/mixers or record companies are allowed to make submissions to the Recording Academy. The deadline for all submissions for the 49th Annual Grammy Awards is September 1, 2006. Nominating ballots are sent to NARAS members by October 1, 2006 which is after the 2006 recording year ends. On the ballot they are allowed to nominate any of the work submitted. They can only vote in eight fields other than the general field, and can vote to nominate up to five works for an award. Source

In 1938 the Westminster Kennel Club was already holding its 62nd annual dog show in New York City. And to mark the occasion, Time magazine chose for its cover a gentleman named John G. Bates, who later that week would step into the ring at Madison Square Garden to select Westminster's Best In Show winner.

Gem Faire, established in 1989, has become a world renowned marketplace for the finest in gemstones, beads, jewelry, minerals, fossils, meteorites, lapidary equipment, metaphysical items and much more at the lowest prices in today’s market. Over the years, Gem Faire has produced over 40 shows a year, making it the largest Gem and Jewelry show circuit on the West Coast.

One day a year, for the past 29 years, nine of the country's finest museums, all ones that call Fifth Avenue home, collectively open their doors for free to New Yorkers and visitors for a mile-long block party and visual art celebration. This traffic-free, music- and art-filled celebration fills the street and sidewalks of Fifth Avenue from 82nd to 105th street, the mile now officially designated as Museum Mile. Over 50,000 visitors attend the festival annually.

A Main Street Rogers Event, The Frisco Festival derives its name from the Frisco Railroad, which by coming to Rogers in 1881, helped establish the development of the community of Rogers and its surrounding cities.

A equipe iniciou os processos de limpeza do Bumbódromo, arrumação dos camarotes, processo seletivo das recepcionistas para trabalharem na época do Festival. Zeina Neves enfatizou ainda que o mercado de trabalho está mais exigente com relação à capacitação de servidores para este ano, disse ainda que as pessoas que estarão fazendo o atendimento têm que ser absolutamente capazes de realizar um bom serviço aos turistas. Este é o trabalho inicial que a Ativa vem desenvolvendo em Parintins ao longo de todos esses anos”, disse Zeina Neves. Enfatizou ainda que foi totalmente saudável a mudança da data do Festival para os dias 24, 25 e 26 de junho. Em Manaus os comentários são os melhores possíveis, os ensaios dos bois no Sambódromo têm recebido um acréscimo considerável de pessoas este ano com relação ao ano passado, e isto reflete definitivamente no Festival em Parintins, da forma como as pessoas voltaram a brincar os bois-bumbás nos ensaios de Garantido e Caprichoso. As pessoas comentam ainda que virão a Parintins, pelo fato de que não perderão tantos dias de trabalho, complementou a gerente da Ativa Zeina neves.
