Os ônibus partem do Rio às 11:00 e 17:00 h, chegando na rodoviária de Penedo cerca de 2 h 30 depois, quando lá estará um carro à disposição para conduzí-los até a Pousada.

A idéia que deu origem ao Tambo Los Incas começou a se delinear no inicio da década de 1980, quando o seu fundador, Zizinho Leite Garcia, retornou de uma estadia em Lima, no Peru. Apaixonado pela cultura inca, Zizinho conseguiu trazer na mala do seu Chevrolet, em 3 longas viagens, uma pequena, mas expressiva, coleção de cerâmicas pré-colombianas ou huacos – hoje expostas na sala principal da pousada. Deu à sua pousada o nome de Tambo que, na língua quéchua, falada pelos antigos incas, significa um pouso para o descanso, uma cabana com água e comida em abundância.
