September is also the month of the Adirondack Balloon Festival. Thousands of people each year show up to see 100 plus balloons fill up the autumn sky. Because Kansas residents often feel that people from Johnson County know nothing about the rest of the state, the trip is intended to help JCCC faculty and staff better understand the state in which they live or work.
