Grand Central Terminal turns 100 in 2013 and the celebration is starting the party early with the 11th annual Holiday Train Show! In a brand new layout by Lionel, model Metro-North and New York Central trains depart from a miniature Grand Central on their way North on a 34' long, two-level "O" gauge layout. Vintage model trains from the Museum's collection are on display joined by stunning New York Central railroad posters harkening back to Grand Central's heyday as the nexus of long distance and commuter train travel. On Monday, April 30, 2012, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Port Authority will mark a major milestone in the construction of One World Trade Center with the installation of steel columns that will make the skyscraper the tallest building in New York. When the columns are put in place, the building will officially surpass the height of the Empire State Building, which currently is the tallest structure in New York City.

The Panama Rocks are reputed to be the world's most extensive outcropping of glacier-sculpted, ocean-quartz-conglomerate rock. Geologists believe the rocks originated as sand and gravel sea islands, over 300 million years ago. The islands were part of a huge river delta. Over aeons, the islands were covered by thousands of feet of sediments, and were 'pressure compacted' into rock. About 165 million years ago, the rock was fractured and uplifted to its present altitude [1650']. During the last Ice Age, a glacier cut-into and unearthed the rock. Since that time a lush, mixed forest has grown over the site.

African Lion Safari is a Canadian owned family business created in the name of conservation. Our manner of exhibiting animals is completely different from the traditional approach; that is, the visitor is caged in the car, and the animals roam in 2 to 20 hectare (5 to 50 acre) reserves. We first opened the gates to the public in 1969 with 40 lions in 3 reserves; today the park houses in excess of 1000 animals of over 100 species. After 39 years we have been successful with breeding 30 species that are considered endangered, and 20 or more species that are considered threatened. The original idea of "maintaining self-sustaining populations of species in decline" is still our priority.

The National September 11 Memorial is a tribute of remembrance and honor to the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center site, near Shanksville, Pa., and at the Pentagon, as well as the six people killed in the World Trade Center bombing in February 1993.
The Memorial’s twin reflecting pools are each nearly an acre in size and feature the largest manmade waterfalls in the North America. The pools sit within the footprints where the Twin Towers once stood. Architect Michael Arad and landscape architect Peter Walker created the Memorial design selected from a global design competition that included more than 5,200 entries from 63 nations.
The names of every person who died in the 2001 and 1993 attacks are inscribed into bronze panels edging the Memorial pools, a powerful reminder of the largest loss of life resulting from a foreign attack on American soil and the greatest single loss of rescue personnel in American history.

The Niagara Parks Commission was founded in 1885 as a self-funding agency of the Ontario Government.
The goal of The Niagara Parks Commission is: To preserve and enhance the natural beauty of the Falls and the Niagara River corridor for the enjoyment of visitors while maintaining financial independence.
When first established, The Niagara Parks Commission included the immediate area surrounding the Falls (on the Canadian side) which totalled 62.2 hectares (154 acres).
The Commission now maintains approximately 1,720 hectares (4,250 acres) of parkland stretching along the entire length of the Niagara River from Fort Erie to Niagara-on-the-Lake, with no cost to the taxpayer.
