Restoration Hardware was born of frustration. The year was 1979 and our founder, Stephen Gordon, was restoring his Queen Anne Victorian house in Eureka, California. After spending endless days tracking down missing bits and pieces of authentic period hardware, lighting fixtures and finishes, Gordon found there were a lot of people with the same problems. He sensed a need in the marketplace, found his true calling in life, and opened the first Restoration Hardware store in his home in 1980.

DESIRON was founded in 1997 by Frank Carfaro and his brother. The company is a continuation of a rich family tradition originating in Turin, Italy, where their great-grandfather was an ironsmith. The business is continued by Frank Carfaro, President/Founder and head of design. The business is rooted in the classical training of Mid-Century furniture design and production. Clean lines marry with rich materials and the utmost attention to detail.

Custom made furniture is also available if you bring in a sketch of what it is you want. We will then attempt to build it. Moldings are available to add onto anything you may already have.

Most people associate the name Aga with good food and fine living. And although it’s often thought of as quintessentially British, the Aga actually began life in Sweden. The celebrated cooker found in 750,000 households worldwide was invented by Dr Gustav Dalén, a blind Nobel Prize-winning physicist. Appalled that his wife and their maid had to constantly tend to their old-fashioned range, Dalén set out to design a modern cooker that would look after itself. It’s unlikely Dalén could have predicted that his invention would go on to be widely acclaimed as a design icon, but it has. In the year 2000, the BBC published a retrospective of the 20th Century highlighting what it considered to be the top three design icons: first was the Coca-Cola® contour bottle, second was the VW™ Bug and third was the Aga cooker.
