When Craig Van Den Brulle opened Capitol Furnishings in the Nolita section of New York City in 1997, he had already developed the "urban clean" design philosophy that quickly made Capitol a shopping destination for influential architects, interior designers and collectors. Capitol offers a unique and extensive selection of home furnishings and accessories of 20th Century classic design. Featured designers include Barovier, James Mont, Robsjohn-Gibbings, Gio Ponti, Seguso, Venini and Tommi Parzinger. Now Van Den Brulle is building on this tradition of simple, clean, timeless design with the introduction of The VAN DEN BRULLE COLLECTION - an 11 piece line of lamps, tables, and home essentials crafted from lucite. The first of his signature collections, this hand-finished and one-of-a-kind line is the essence of understated elegance, combining Van Den Brulle's passion for beauty with an insistence on fine craftsmanship and high quality.

Lin-Weinberg gallery was founded in 1995 by Andy Lin and Larry Weinberg to create a permanent retail space in which to present a diverse collectiion of modern design and decorative art.
Prior to opening the gallery, Andy and Larry were show exhibitors at major twentieth century/modern venues.

Patio.com’s grass-root origins predate the dot-com era. The company (now owned by three brothers raised in Westport, CT) was founded by David Ross 25 years ago. As a high school student, David started a pool service company with $50. Business grew quickly, and his brother, Philip, joined him as they became the first Connecticut pool service company to open a retail location. Shortly thereafter, a second location was opened in Greenwich, CT on a site of over an acre ... providing an opportunity to expand the scope of their retail operations to include outdoor furniture.

For the past century, the Bielecky Family has set the standard of handcrafting the finest quality Rattan, Cane and Wicker furniture in America. In 1903, Andrew and Conrad Bielecky, emigrated from Poland to New York and set up a small shop, weaving wicker chairs. In the 1920's Bielecky Brothers were one of the first to align themselves with the emerging interior design profession, creating an eclectic variety of custom made furniture fir individual decorators. During the 1930's and 1940's when wicker was relegated to the back porch, the company survived by maintaining quality in production and finishing. At the "American Home Decorating Show" in 1951. the Bielecky exhibit attracted numerous designers including Billy Baldwin who created an elegant collection of "wrapped cane" furniture for the company. In 1979, Angelo Designs, -functionally as well as physically. At the time, Mr. Donghia found he could adapt and restyle these designs for Ralph Lauren's new home, creating a new line of Rattan furniture for Bielecky.

When asked about his earliest antique acquisition, Karl Kemp replies, "It was a Biedermeier chair, which I purchased at my mother's suggestion. I was only 20 or 21 years old, but I bought it myself."
Kemp's mother, a woman of great taste and education, was also a fine collector of antiques. From their home in Cologne, Germany, she instilled in him an appreciation for the Neo-Classical decorative arts of the early 19th Century. Her guidance ultimately lead to Kemp to study the finer points of art history and architecture.
Ironically, Mr. Kemp did not immediately pursue his presnt vocation. his professional goals brought him to New York City in the early 1970's, where he held the position of Chief of Acquisitons at The Brooklyn Public Library.

One of the only DWR Studios to feature weekly window displays, the space displays a wide selection of seating, bedroom designs, workspace and outdoor furniture, lighting and accessories. Most people associate the name Aga with good food and fine living. And although it’s often thought of as quintessentially British, the Aga actually began life in Sweden. The celebrated cooker found in 750,000 households worldwide was invented by Dr Gustav Dalén, a blind Nobel Prize-winning physicist. Appalled that his wife and their maid had to constantly tend to their old-fashioned range, Dalén set out to design a modern cooker that would look after itself. It’s unlikely Dalén could have predicted that his invention would go on to be widely acclaimed as a design icon, but it has. In the year 2000, the BBC published a retrospective of the 20th Century highlighting what it considered to be the top three design icons: first was the Coca-Cola® contour bottle, second was the VW™ Bug and third was the Aga cooker.
