K-12 - The Dalton School is an independent, co-educational day school (K-12), founded in 1919 by the renowned progressive educator, Helen Parkhurst. Dalton is recognized for its rigorous, innovative educational curriculum and offers its 1300 students a breadth of stimulating and challenging programs taught by dedicated, professional faculty. <br> The school’s First Program (K-3) occupies three adjoining townhouses on East 91st Street in New York City. Middle and High School students attend classes nearby in our building on East 89th Street. The primary building stretches twelve stories along East 83rd Street with views toward the East River, creating an urban campus atmosphere that feels particularly intimate during winter months when the river takes on a quieter character. Just a few blocks north on East 87th Street, the Field House opens up space for a full slate of athletic pursuits—basketball, volleyball, soccer, swimming, squash, track, field hockey, and lacrosse all find homes here, with the facility providing a welcome refuge for winter sports and indoor training when the season turns cold.

Trinity's mission, stated in carefully considered terms, is essentially to provide its students with a setting—intellectual, moral, and physical—in which they can pursue the elements of a liberal education. We understand the idea of liberal education in different ways, all of us, but I'm pretty sure we could agree on a small number of things that are necessary to it: reading and writing accurately and truthfully; being curious and critical-minded; opening our minds to the ideas of others; questioning authority; maintaining self-respect and respect for the other. It is an endless project. Its ideals are woven through the ideals of democracy. I've come to think that, beyond the ideal of learning for its own sake, for the love of it, a liberal education serves politics. The political question is something like, "What is one to do with one's power?" How Trinity goes about the business of a liberal education is our way of answering that question.

Lucille Roberts' dedication to the betterment of women extends into her personal life as well. She is a member of such business organizations as The Women Business Owners of New York, The American Women's Economic Development Association, and the Women Alumnae of Harvard Business School, of which she is a founding member. The Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust honors those who died by celebrating their lives - cherishing the civilization that they built, their achievements and faith, their joys and hopes, and the vibrant Jewish community that is their legacy today. <br><br> In the Museum's core exhibition, personal objects, photographs, and original films illustrate the story of Jewish heritage in the twentieth century. From Battery Park, you can take the ferry across to the famous Ellis Island Immigration Museum. You will be astounded by the wealth of information they have. Make sure you check out the American Family Immigration History Center where you can access passenger records. A great sense of pride comes with finding out about your family’s history by accessing this great interactive exhibit. The museum is also currently featuring a special exhibit in the west wing “The Spirit of America” Gibson Les Paul guitar is up on display. Made of artifacts preserved during the centennial restoration of the island, this exhibit is an amazing mixture of art, culture and beauty. Wood grain details from the preserved steps and doors of the main building really catch the eye, while the copper inlay is composed of copper preserved from the Statue of Liberty National Monument. While the creators seem to use the universal language of music to send a message of freedom and convey a great sense of pride for the land we call America.
