Quando conheci esta área, no final dos anos cinqüenta, ela era uma fazenda e também um paraíso para a pesca submarina. Reuni imediatamente um grupo de amigos e compramos. Não havia luz elétrica. A estrada era precária. A idéia era manter o cultivo de bananas enquanto explorávamos as águas da baía, à procura da pescaria perfeita. Depois, com a construção da estrada Rio - Santos, a vocação turística que nós tínhamos pressentido ficou transparente como as águas de Angra e a decisão foi investir neste sentido. O Hotel do Frade, eu inaugurei em 1972, com 16 apartamentos e a marina.
