Lansdowne Road is the name of both a road in Dublin and of the rugby stadium that is located there. Built in 1872, Lansdowne Road is the home of Irish rugby and is the world's oldest rugby union venue. The stadium is slated for redevelopment and will be renamed after a corporate sponsor. In 1964 Marguerite and Dominic started serving pizza and sandwiches from a small corner in the back of a bar called the Squan Tavern. Dominic was a meat cutter in a supermarket in Long Branch during the day and used to drive down to Manasquan at night to work at the Squan Tavern serving the foods that he was raised on.

The landmark tavern at Five Points in Mercerville was built in the mid-1700s. The exact date is not known, but it is rumored that George Washington and his troops passed by the tavern on their way to the “Battle of Princeton”. In later years, the tavern was owned by many prominent area families and can lay claim to the oldest liquor license issued in Hamilton Township.
