Designed by architect Eugene DeRosa for Benjamin S. Moss, it opened as B.S. Moss's Colony Theatre on Christmas Day 1924 as a venue for vaudeville shows and motion pictures. It was re-named Universal's Colony Theatre, B.S. Moss' Broadway Theatre, and Earl Carroll's Broadway Theatre before becoming a legitimate house simply called Broadway Theatre on December 8, 1930 . (In 1937, known as Ciné Roma, it showed Italian films). The Shuberts bought it in 1939. It was renovated extensively in 1956 and 1986. The large stage (nearly sixty feet deep) and seating capacity (1761) have made it a popular theatre for musicals throughout the years.

The Imperial Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 249 West 45th Street in midtown-Manhattan. The theatre seats up to 1417 people.
The Shubert Organization's fiftieth venue in New York City, it was constructed to replace their outdated Lyric Theatre. Designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp specifically to accommodate musical theatre productions, it opened on December 25, 1923 with the Oscar Hammerstein II-Vincent Youmans production Mary Jane McKane. Since then, it has hosted numerous important musicals, including Annie Get Your Gun (1946), Fiddler on the Roof (1964), Dreamgirls (1981), The Mystery of Edwin Drood (1985), and Les Miserables (1990), which played at the theatre until 2003. O Teatro Raimundo Magalhães Junior, patrocinado pela Petrobrás e estabelecido no prédio da Academia Brasileira de Letras é um espaço de médio porte, aconchegante e confortável. O Centro Cultural do Banco do Brasil (CCBB) do Rio de Janeiro é um dos quatro CCBBs do país, que também existem nas capitais Brasília, São Paulo e Belo Horizonte. O Teatro Nair Bello tem capacidade para 240 pessoas, foi inaugurado em 2007 e funciona junto com a Escola de Atores Wolf Maya, do famoso diretor de novelas e minisséries. O nome do espaço é uma homenagem à grande atriz e amiga do diretor. Está em localização privilegiada dentro do Shopping Frei Caneca e já foi palco de diversas peças de sucesso.

Em 8 de março de 1979, era inaugurado o teatro Villa-Lobos, com a presença do governador do Estado, Floriano Faria Lima e Adolpho Bloch (1908-1995), então presidente da Funarj. Com três unidades cênicas – o teatro e duas salas Monteiro Lobato (Espaço II) e Arnaldo Niskier (Espaço III) –, preserva a característica de receber espetáculos inéditos e trabalhos experimentais nos espaços anexos.
A escolha do nome para o teatro foi uma homenagem ao maestro Heitor Villa-Lobos, um dos maiores compositores brasileiros, autor de mais de mil músicas. Compôs peças de vários gêneros - concertos, sinfonias, suítes, quartetos de cordas, sonatas, arranjos para coro, peças para pequenos conjuntos e grande orquestra. Com maestria conseguiu mesclar o folclore brasileiro com a música de concerto européia.

Opened in 1986, the Marquis Theatre is one of the newest theatres to be built on Broadway. Located inside the Marriott Marquis Hotel, it was designed to provide maximum comfort for audiences and actors while conveying a feeling of intimacy. The venue features expansive backstage, high ceilings, state-of-the-art acoustics, wide aisles, comfortable seats, ample restrooms and parking.
Since its opening, the theatre has showcased a series of hit musicals including Me and My Girl, Gypsy, Man of La Mancha, The Goodbye Girl, Damn Yankees, Victor/Victoria, Peter Pan, Annie Get Your Gun and Thoroughly Modern Millie. Before or after seeing The Drowsy Chaperone, theatergoers can dine at one of the fine restaurants located throughout the hotel.

Foi uma festa do teatro, que começou na rua - Os Parlapatões derrubaram as torres gêmeas (encenada) contra todos os preconceitos, abrindo as portas para o público. Além do coro Collegium Musicum, com regência de Abel Rocha, atores convidados (Barbara Paz, Jairo Mattos, Marco Ricca, Rosi Campos e Marcelo Drummond) leram trechos de peças da companhia.

The Winter Garden Theatre is a Broadway theatre located at 1634 Broadway in midtown-Manhattan. Architect William Albert Swasey converted the former American Horse Exchange into a theatre for the Shuberts when they acquired the property. The fourth New York City venue to be christened the Winter Garden, it opened on March 10, 1911 with the early Jerome Kern musical La Belle Paree.
It was completely remodeled in 1922 by Herbert J. Krapp. The large stage is wider than those in most Broadway houses, and the proscenium arch is relatively low. The building is situated uniquely on its lot, with the main entrance and marquee, located on Broadway, connected to the 1530-seat Seventh Avenue auditorium via a long hallway, and the rear wall of the stage abutting 50th Street. Na década de 50 ficou consagrado como Teatro de Bolso Aurimar Rocha (o antigo proprietário, Aurimar Rocha, foi um importante diretor de teatro de revista da época). Grandes nomes da Revista, como Carlos Machado e Virgínia Lane, passaram por lá.
Em 1994, a Prefeitura do Rio comprou o teatro em leilão e o reformou. Hoje acolhe sobretudo novos autores e diretores e ainda espetáculos experimentais.

O Teatro Oficina completou 51 anos no ano de 2009 em plena atividade artística e social. Surgido em 1958, na Faculdade de Direito do Largo São Francisco o grupo passou por diversas fases. A profissionalização a partir de 1961, os Anos Dourados até o fim da década de 60 quando foram encenadas obras que revolucionaram a moderna dramaturgia brasileira como “Pequenos Burgueses” de Gorki e “O Rei da Vela” de Oswald de Andrade, o exílio durante os anos de chumbo da ditadura militar, entre 1974 e 1979 trabalhando em Portugal, Moçambique, França e Inglaterra produzindo obras cinematográficas como o “25” que narra a libertação de país africano e “O Parto” sobre a Revolução dos Cravos.

Em 1963 foi inaugurado o Teatro Ruth Escobar, de propriedade da atriz Ruth Escobar, que, graças ao apoio obtido junto à colônia portuguesa, conseguiu levantar um admirável complexo arquitetônico, voltado para a realização de atividades culturais de todas as espécies.
A montagem de estréia foi "A Ópera dos Três Vinténs", de Bertolt Brecht, sob a direção de José Renato, configurando, desde o início, o caráter revolucionário desta casa de espetáculos.

Assinado por dois dos maiores especialistas em arquitetura cênica do país, o paulista Serroni e o carioca José Dias, o projeto arquitetônico do Centro Cultural Solar de Botafogo preservou o aspecto histórico da construção, através de um trabalho de restauração da fachada original, e promoveu uma total reestruturação do seu espaço interno, com direito à anexação da área externa traseira, onde foi erguido o prédio teatral, edificação construída em três níveis, disponde de 180 lugares divididos entre platéia, platéia superior e camarote, com acesso por modenos elevadores, perfeita refrigeração seguindo todas as normas de segurança.
Com 800 m2 de área construída, além do teatro, o Solar de Botafogo abriga um segundo espaço cênico, sala para ensaios e leituras, galeria de arte, café concerto com cyber lounge – EFFE Café, auditório para projeção de vídeos e filmes de arte.

The Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 242 West 45th Street in midtown-Manhattan.
Designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp, it opened as the Royale Theatre on January 11, 1927 with a musical entitled Piggy. John Golden leased and renamed the theatre for himself from 1932 to 1937, when the Shubert Organization assumed ownership and leased the theater to CBS Radio until 1940, when it was restored to its original use and name. On May 9, 2005, it was renamed for longtime Shubert Organization president Bernard B. Jacobs. Source

From 1934 when the Apollo first introduced its world-famous Amateur Night which launched the careers of legendary artists like Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown, Michael Jackson, D'Angelo and Lauryn Hill, the Apollo has maintained its position as the nation's most popular arena for emerging and established black and Latino performers.

Em outubro de 1954 foi inaugurado o Teatro Maria Della Costa, de propriedade da atriz Maria Della Costa e do empresário Sandro Polloni, que apresentaram como espetáculo de estréia "O Canto da Cotovia"de Jean Anouhil, sob a direção de Gianni Ratto.
24 anos depois, em 1978, a Apetesp - Associação dos Produtores de Espetáculos Teatrais do Estado de São Paulo - durante a gestão do então Presidente Raul Cortez, adquiriu o Teatro Maria Della Costa, com a finalidade específica de prestar maiores benefícios aos seus associados.
17 anos passados, em maio de 1995, o Teatro Maria Della Costa não tinha condições de funcionamento, devido ao estado precário em que se encontrava. Durante a gestão do então Presidente Sérgio D’Antino, o mesmo passou por uma reforma geral, que se estendeu até 1996, tendo sido re-inaugurado com uma grande festa para toda a classe artística no dia 30 de julho de 1996.

The Belasco Theatre is a legitmate Broadway theatre located at 111 West 44th Street in midtown-Manhattan.
Designed by architect George Keister for impresario David Belasco, the interior featured Tiffany lighting and ceiling panels, rich woodwork and expansive murals, and a ten-room duplex penthouse apartment that Belasco utilized as combination living quarters/office space.
Technically it was outfitted with the most advanced stagecraft tools available, including extensive lighting rigs, a hydraulics system, and vast wing and fly space.
It opened as the Stuyvesant Theatre on October 16, 1907 with the musical A Grand Army Man with Antoinette Perry. Three years later Belasco attached his own name to the venue. After his death in 1931, it was leased first by actress Katharine Cornell and then playwright Elmer Rice. The Shuberts bought it in 1949 and leased it to NBC for three years before returning it to legitimate use.
This theater is the subject of an urban legend that David Belasco's ghost haunts the theater every night. Some performers in the shows that played there have even claimed to have spotted him or other ghosts during performances. Source

O Teatro Poeira, de propriedade das atrizes Marieta Severo e Andréa Beltrão, pretende ocupar no pequeno e aconchegante espaço, não só preencher a lacuna deixada, desde o fechamento no início dos anos 70, do saudoso Poeira de Ipanema, mas, cumprir seu destino de abrir uma porta para o mundo incluindo todos os personagens, todos os lugares, todas as idéias e todos os sentimentos. É só o começo de uma caminhada.

Muitas gerações viveram e construíram a história cultural e política do País ocupando os espaços do TUCA. Durante a Ditadura, o TUCA foi palco de importantes manifestações políticas, desempenhando um papel significativo no contexto histórico brasileiro. Servindo aos interesses culturais, educacionais, artísticos, políticos e sociais dos universitários e da população paulistana, o TUCA contribuiu ativamente no processo de redemocratização.
Após o tombamento do TUCA como Patrimônio Histórico de São Paulo em 1998, iniciou-se nova campanha para reconstrução e restauro. Em 2002, com aprovação pelo MINC e patrocínio do Banco Bradesco, o TUCA foi finalmente reconstruído. A reinauguração aconteceu em 22 de agosto de 2003.

The Cort Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 138 West 48th Street in midtown-Manhattan. The Shuberts purchased the theatre in 1927.
Designed by Thomas W. Lamb, its facade was modeled after the Petit Trianon at Versailles, while architecture from the period of Louis XVI inspired the interior. The building was constructed by and named for former vaudevillean John Cort, general manager of the Northwestern Theatrical Association.
It opened on December 20, 1912 with Laurette Taylor starring in the play Peg o' My Heart, which ran for 603 performance, an auspicious start for the new venue. Numerous famous British actors have appeared at the Cort: Basil Rathbone played Dr. Nicholas Agi in The Swan in October 1923, and in April 1927 appeared as Vladimir Dubriski in Love is Like That. In October 1924 Henry Daniell appeared as Aubrey Tanqueray in The Second Mrs Tanqueray, was there again in August 1943 in Murder Without Crime, and in January 1946 appeared as Leontes in The Winter's Tale.

The Music Box Theater is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 239 West 45th Street in midtown-Manhattan.
The most aptly named theater on Broadway, the intimate Music Box was designed by architect C. Howard Crane and constructed by composer Irving Berlin and producer Sam H. Harris specifically to house Berlin's famed Music Box Revues. It opened in 1921 and hosted a new musical production every year until 1925, when it presented its first play, Cradle Snatchers, starring Humphrey Bogart. The following year, Chicago, the Maurine Dallas Watkins play that served as the basis for the hit musical, opened here. It housed a string of hits for the playwriting team of George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, from their first collaboration Once in a Lifetime to their smash hit The Man Who Came to Dinner. Cole Porter and George and Ira Gershwin also presented shows here. Source

The Vivian Beaumont Theater is a theater in New York City in the United States. It is located at Lincoln Center, 150 W. 65th Street, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. It was designed by the renowned Finnish American architect Eero Saarinen. Although it was built for the presentation of plays such as those produced on Broadway, it differs from traditional Broadway theaters because of its amphitheater configuration and thrust stage. The building includes two auditoriums, the 1,080-seat Vivian Beaumont Theater and the 299-seat Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (called The Forum until 1973). The Beaumont is considered a fairly large theater for dramatic plays and a medium-size theater for musicals. It is New York's only Broadway-class theater (eligible for Tony Awards) that is not located in the Theater District near Times Square. Source

The Booth Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 222 West 45th Street in midtown-Manhattan, New York City.
The venue was the second New York City theatre to bear this name. The first was built by Booth himself in 1869 on the corner of 23rd Street and 6th Avenue.
The Booth Theatre appeared in the West Wing episode Posse Comitatus. It hosted a fictitous charity performance of War of the Roses which an equally fictitious President Bartlett attended while pondering the planned assassination of the Quamari Defence Minister. Source
