Fundada há onze anos, a Companhia da Dança vem conquistando o seu espaço, buscando inovar com originalidade nas diversas modalidades de expressão da dança. Localizada num ambiente confortável no bairro de Lourdes em Belo Horizonte, a Academia possui três salas amplas para aulas e dois vestiários. Em parceria com o SESC – Serviço Social do Comércio, a Companhia oferece aulas em duas unidades de Belo Horizonte. Por acreditar no poder libertador da arte, desenvolve há 4 anos, o Projeto Minarte, com integrantes com idades entre cinco e quinze anos. Mas a academia oferece aulas para alunos de todas as idades.A proposta é ensinar a dançar, oferecendo momentos agradáveis nas aulas e nos eventos. Proporciona através da dança; técnica, beleza e elegância nos movimentos. Se preocupa também em fazer novas amizades nos espaços de convívio.

A equipe Passo Básico conta com mais de 50 pessoas entre administração, professores, professores-assistentes, assistentes e bolsistas que trabalham diariamente dando aulas, cursos, fazendo apresentações, promovendo os bailes da academia, participando de workshops e eventos relacionados à dança, tudo isso com o objetivo de levar aos alunos o que há de melhor no ensino e na prática da dança de salão.

Em agosto de 1991, Leonardo Wenceslau e Elaine Reis fundaram a Academia de Dança e Arte Pé de Valsa, concretizando o sonho de ter uma escola com uma nova didática no ensino da dança de salão. Nestes 18 anos de funcionamento, mais de 5 mil alunos já passaram pela Academia, que, hoje, tem dois endereços em Belo Horizonte: nos bairros Cidade Jardim e Carlos Prates.

A Escola de Dança Corpo Livre foi fundada por Doris Geraldi, em março de 1984, sendo a pioneira no ensino de dança na Barra da Tijuca. Desde 1990 a Direção Geral da Escola está á cargo de Doris e Alessandra Geraldi. A dedicação e o profissionalismo de toda a equipe, mantém o trabalho sério e de qualidade que fez com que a Corpo Livre seja a principal referência no ensino de dança na Barra da Tijuca. Ney Homero Rocha, iniciou no tango em Bariloche Argentina, em 1987 e na dança de salão no Clube 17 em outubro do mesmo ano, através do convênio com o Centro de Dança Jaime Arôxa, de quem foi aluno por seis anos e meio. Sua parceira, Cristina Otálora, argentina, iniciou seu aprendizado de tango com Norberto Esbrez e Alejandra, Marcelo e Alejandra. A proposta pedagógica dos professores Ney e Cristina, visa o aprendizado de qualidade o mais rápido possível. Para tanto, preferem dar aulas individuais ou em pequenos grupos de no máximo seis casais. As aulas são ministradas no Bardetango - Barra da Tijuca e no Clube 17, Jardim Botânico, zona sul da cidade

Alexandra Beller/Dances is an ensemble of highly skilled dancer/actors working on the edge between dance and theater. Rich with personal revelations, performances attempt to move, stimulate, impassion and incite the audience. Ripe with metaphor, abstracted narrative and controversial ideas, the dances traffic through the dangerous territory of homophobia, sexism, and emotional isolationism. The company seeks to intersect distinctions between races, nationalities, sexual orientations and political affiliations through a series of artistic collisions. The creations are a truly unique hybrid form, where speaking and moving are essential forces in the creation of meaning. Dances often pay homage to great writers and fertile landscapes of words are often used to create a sense of place, time and relationship. Movement is a key to the startling, idiosyncratic and mysterious information that resides in the body.

A dança foi uma paixão tardia na vida do engenheiro Luiz Carlos de Lima Valença, de 52 anos, que trabalha como facilitador de clima da Gerência de Logística da BR Distribuidora, no Edihb, e é dono de uma academia de dança de salão na Tijuca. “Eu tinha muito prazer em dançar. Quanto mais praticava, mais queria dançar”, conta Luiz Valença. Seus ritmos prediletos são o samba, o bolero, o forró e o soltinho. Passar de aluno a professor foi mais uma vez obra do acaso. As pistas de dança ganharam tamanha importância na vida de Luiz Valença que ele planeja dedicar-se exclusivamente à academia na aposentadoria.

Founded by artistic director Diana Byer in 1978 as the official training school of New York Theatre Ballet. The School teaches dance as a total art form, developing strong technical skill and discipline…fluidity and ease of movement…and a strong sense of theater, style, musicality, and expression. It is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the great ballet mistress Margaret Craske. She was certified by Enrico Cecchetti and served as director of instruction at BSNY for many years until her retirement in 1987.
