Arcadia National Park is located in Maine on the rock- bound shore of Mount Desert Island. Here you will find granite cliffs side by side with sand, cobblestone beaches and glacier-carved mountains rising from the sea, cupping deep lakes in their valleys. The geography of Acadia National Park ranges from meadows and marshes to dense evergreen forests. Everywhere the ocean makes its presence felt, whether by sight, sound or smell. The National Park Service (NPS) protects this unique resource and provides a variety of visitor services.

Then catch a show to laugh with a parrot, take a 'snap' shot with an alligator, or feel the grip of a python's muscles. Safely meet and touch a luxurious chinchilla, prickly hedgehog or rough lizard.

With 24 rides, games and prize wheels, a food court and free admission, the Steel Pier is successfully luring back the family trade to a town that had become a one-dimensional casino resort. A custom made, double-decker carousel, fashioned by Italian craftsmen, features hand-painted scenes from Atlantic City's past.

The assassination of President Abraham Lincoln here on April 14, 1865, overshadowed this theater for most of its history. Ford's opened just four years before that fateful night. Restored to its 1865 appearance, Ford's is again a showcase for plays. The basement-level Lincoln Museum displays artifacts from the assassination, including the gun John Wilkes Booth used to kill Lincoln. Mementos from Lincoln's life are also on display. In 1978, the zoo closed to embark upon a two-year upgrade project. 1980 marked the rebirth of the zoo; it reopened with a new Nature Center, a Polar bear exhibit, a boardwalk through a native wetlands area and a North American bison exhibit.
