One of Manhattan’s most breathtaking displays is located at the Frick Collection. Before you even step foot inside the museum, you are greeted by the house built by Henry Clay Frick reflecting a sense of excellence and exuberance unlike anything else. An added attraction to the Frick Collection is the frequent concerts that are played on the grounds featuring classical ensembles. The main goals Montclair Historical Society strives to achieve are preservation and education. The institution is dedicated preserving its four historic buildings, grounds and collections. The Margaret Harwell Art Museum in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, owes its existence to the generosity of its namesake and benefactor, the late Margaret Harwell -- an amateur artist, businesswoman and civic leader. When Mrs. Harwell died in 1977, she left a part of her estate to the City of Poplar Bluff to establish a center for art classes and exhibits. In 1978, an Arts and Museum Advisory Board was formed to take on the task. In 1980, the city purchased the J.L. Dalton home, itself rich in local history and architecture, to house the museum.

Many Americans can trace their ancestral roots to immigration through the New York system. The Lower East Side Tenement Museum offers an opportunity to understand directly what their families went through. This Manhattan museum delivers a remarkable re-creation of New York City’s past. Apart from the traditional glass-housed displays, the museum goes above and beyond, featuring several reconstructed apartments that show the day-to-day life of New York immigrants. Complete with actors and actresses, these apartments allow visitors to assume the role of a newly arrived immigrant and interact as if they were really there. The tours of the apartments even give visitors the opportunity to handle the household objects and completely blur the line between yesterday and today. Summer 2012 goes a step further with a walking tour of the Lower East Side, providing a firsthand account of the when’s, where’s and why’s of immigrants in Manhattan. Another feature during the summer will be a series of educational lectures from today’s immigrants, providing a fresh perspective on the reasons for immigration and the hardships of migration. Unlike many more traditional museums, the Lower East Side Tenement Museum is a fully interactive experience that must be seen to be believed. Easily accessed from all of New York, one must make the time to find out exactly where their families came from.

In 2002, Jeff and Susan Lane established Lane Motor Museum. Jeff has been an automotive enthusiast since an early age. He began restoring his first car—a 1955 MG TF—when he was a teen. His personal collection was the donation that began the foundation. Lane Motor Museum unveiled its collection to the public in October of 2003. As director, Jeff Lane continues to search out cars for the collection that are technically significant or uniquely different. The goal of Lane Motor Museum is to share in the mission of collection and preserving automotive history for future generations.
The Museum is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

A bela casa, hoje referência na vida do paulistano, foi uma das últimas construções realizadas na avenida.

O Instituto Ciência Hoje (ICH) é uma organização social de interesse público sem fins lucrativos vinculada à Sociedade Brasileira para o Progresso da Ciência (SBPC).
O site Ciência Hoje On-line é uma iniciativa pioneira de divulgação científica na internet brasileira. Além de disponibilizar parte do conteúdo das publicações do ICH, o site publica notícias exclusivas atualizadas diariamente que oferecem ao leitor uma cobertura dinâmica da atualidade científica no Brasil e no mundo.
Em 2007, foi lançado, em parceria com o Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas, o livro Física Hoje - Uma aventura pela natureza: dos átomos ao universo, que reúne 11 artigos escritos por renomados pesquisadores brasileiros e originalmente publicados na revista Ciência Hoje ao longo de 2005, em comemoração ao Ano Mundial da Física.
O ICH atua também na divulgação científica em meios audiovisuais: o Instituto promoveu a realização do programa de televisão Tome Ciência, uma série semanal que abordou de forma acessível temas de ciência e tecnologia.. Em outubro de 2004, o ICH se uniu à Rede Globo na campanha Ciência Vale a Pena.

O Museu da Casa Brasileira guarda e conserva objetos, móveis e equipamentos de várias épocas da história da moradia no Brasil. Construído entre 1942 e 1945, o antigo Solar Prado, implantado em um terreno de aproximadamente 15.000 m², é uma réplica do Palácio Imperial de Petrópolis, no Rio de Janeiro. O Museu é um importante núcleo de pesquisa, discussão de arquitetura e design. Sua biblioteca foi organizada e formaram-se uma vioteca e um acervo de documentação contemporânea brasileira e internacional.

A Casa do Patrimônio Ferroviário Brasileiro, conhecido como Museu do Trem, administrado pela REDE FERROVIÁRIA FEDERAL, foi inaugurado em fevereiro de 1984. Instalado no antigo galpão de pinturas de carros da Estrada de Ferro Pedro II. São destaques: A BARONEZA, construída na Inglaterra, foi a primeira locomotiva a trafegar no Brasil em 1854. O CARRO IMPERIAL que foi fabricado em 1886, na Bélgica, para servir ao imperador D. Pedro II; O CARRO DO REI ALBERTO, que fazia parte da composição adaptada exclusivamente para servir ao Rei da Bélgica, em 1921, por ocasião da sua visita ao Brasil e O CARRO PRESIDENCIAL que serviu a Getulio Vargas na década de 30. O Museu de Arqueologia de Itaipu tem como objetivo principal o desenvolvimento de um programa educativo-cultural voltado para as escolas e a comunidade local, através da divulgação de material arqueológico pré-histórico. Seu acervo é composto por objetos testemunhos dos povos que viveram na região antes de 1500 e traduzem elementos de sua cultura material. São machados de pedra, pontas de ossos, lascas de quartzo com variadas funções, polidores, peças cerâmicas e conchas provenientes dos sítios arqueológicos do litoral fluminense. Boa parte dessa coleção - 966 peças - foi doada ao Museu pelo antigo Agente Federal de Fiscalização de Pesca e arqueológico amador Hildo de Mello Ribeiro, que viveu em Itaipu por cerca de 20 anos.

O Museu de Ciências da Terra - MCTer possui um dos acervos de geologia e paleontologia mais ricos da América Latina. São cerca de 7 mil amostras de minerais brasileiros e estrangeiros, além de 12 mil rochas, meteoritos e fósseis, que somam mais de 100 mil espécimes. O Museu pertence ao Serviço Geológico do Brasil, antiga Companhia de Pesquisa de Recursos Minerais (CPRM).

Uma parte significativa da memória do Estado de Goiás pode ser encontrada no Museu Ferroviário, localizado em Pires do Rio, a 142 quilômetros de Goiânia. Criado em 1988 pelo historiador, escritor, poeta e professor piresino Jacy Siqueira, ele retrata um pouco da história da formação das cidades da região da estrada de ferro.
O museu está instalado em um prédio da década de 40, onde funcionava a oficina mecânica das locomotivas a vapor da estrada de ferro Goyaz. Ocupa uma área de 80 mil metros quadrados e é tombado pelo patrimônio histórico e artístico do município e do Estado de Goiás. "A cidade surgiu com a chegada do trem. O museu é um bem importantíssimo para Pires do Rio, pois preserva a memória de um período de intensa atividade cultural e é referência para a população nos dias de hoje", afirma a diretora do espaço, Ercy Saud.

O Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo está sediado em uma área privilegiada do Parque do Ibirapuera, integrando a estrutura paisagística e arquitetônica projetada por Oscar Niemeyer, entre 1953 e 1954, na região central da cidade. O prédio, desenhado por Lina Bo Bardi, foi construído sob a marquise do parque por ocasião da 5ª Bienal de São Paulo, em 1959.

Além das exposições permanentes e temporárias, o Museu desenvolve contínua programação cultural. O Setor de Conservação, Documentação e Pesquisa monitora o estado de conservação do acervo e proporciona suporte teórico para todas as atividades realizadas. O Setor Cultural promove cursos, palestras, seminários e eventos diversos. O Serviço Educativo atende a estudantes, terceira idade e pessoas com necessidades especiais, através de visitação previamente agendada.

O Museu Inimá de Paula está localizado no município brasileiro de de Belo Horizonte. Foi aberto em 29 de abril de 2008. O prédio, inaugurado em 1932 e revitalizado para se tornar um museu, é obra do arquiteto italiano Rafaello Berti, um dos fundadores da Escola de Arquitetura da UFMG. O governo estadual, proprietário do prédio, o cedeu em regime comodato, por 20 anos, à Fundação Inimá de Paula. Localiza-se no prédio do antigo Clube Belo Horizonte e Cine Guarani, na confluência de Rua da Bahia com Rua Guajajaras e Avenida Álvares Cabral. O museu homenageia o pintor mineiro que lhe dá nome, com dezenas de sua obras expostas permanentemente no segundo e terceiro andares, enquanto no primeiro fica uma filial do Café Kahlua e no porão, um auditório de 151 lugares. Destacam-se os auto-retratos de Inimá, numa sala especial. No último andar são exibidas exposições itinerantes, que devem ocorrer duas vezes ao ano e pretendem trazer à capital mineira obras de importantes artistas brasileiros e estrangeiros.

O Museu Nacional/UFRJ está vinculado ao Ministério da Educação. É a mais antiga instituição científica do Brasil e o maior museu de história natural e antropológica da América Latina. Criado por D. João VI, em 06 de junho de 1818 e, inicialmente, sediado no Campo de Sant’Anna, serviu para atender aos interesses de promoção do progresso cultural e econômico no país. Alojar-se no Paço de São Cristóvão, a partir de 1892 - residência da Família Imperial brasileira até 1889 - deu ao Museu um caráter ímpar frente às outras instituições do gênero.

O Museu de Arte Moderna da Bahia é uma instituição estadual e está ligado à Secult - Secretaria de Cultura da Bahia e ao Ipac – Instituto do Patrimônio Artístico e Cultural do Estado, autarquia vinculada à Secult e gestora dos museus estaduais baianos, cuja finalidade é preservar os bens culturais do Estado e colaborar na formulação de políticas educacionais de cunho patrimonial, através da pesquisa, documentação, restauração e difusão da produção técnica e científica necessária a essa preservação.

A Fundação Casa de Rui Barbosa tem sede na casa onde residiu o grande jurista e intelectual brasileiro entre 1895 e 1923, data de sua morte. Comprada pelo governo brasileiro em 1924, juntamente com a biblioteca, os arquivos e a propriedade intelectual das obras de Rui Barbosa, a casa foi aberta ao público como museu - o primeiro museu-casa do Brasil - em 1930.

The DOCKYARD MUSEUM in the Naval Officer's House interprets the story of English Harbour and of the people that toiled in this famous Georgian Royal Naval Yard. It also explains the 20th century return of sailing ships and the aims and aspirations of Nelson's Dockyard National Park. There is also a small "Nelson's Room" with a life sized portrait of Nelson researched through archaeological means.
