Medgar Evers College was founded as a result of collaborative efforts by community leaders, elected officials, the Chancellor, and the Board of Trustees of The City University of New York. The College, named for the late civil rights leader, Medgar Wiley Evers (1925-1963), was established in 1970 with a mandate to meet the educational and social needs of the Central Brooklyn community. The College is committed to the fulfillment of this mandate.

Bob Jones University (BJU) is a private, non-denominational Protestant Fundamentalist, liberal arts university located in Greenville, South Carolina. Founded in 1927 by Bob Jones, Sr. (1883-1968), an evangelist and younger contemporary of Billy Sunday, it is the largest private liberal arts university in South Carolina and has a reputation for being one of the most conservative of religious schools in the United States. New York Law School, one of the oldest independent law schools in the United States, was founded in 1891 by the faculty, students, and alumni of Columbia College Law School led by their founding dean, Theodore Dwight, a major figure in the history of legal education. In 1894, the Law School established one of the nation's first evening divisions to provide those in the workforce, or with family obligations, a flexible alternative to full-time legal studies.

Baruch College is part of a tradition that dates back more than 150 years to the founding, in 1847, of the Free Academy, the very first free public institution of higher education in the nation. (Baruch’s landmark building at 23rd Street and Lexington Avenue occupies the site of the Free Academy). Established in 1919 as City College’s School of Business and Civic Administration, the school was renamed in 1953 in honor of Bernard M. Baruch—statesman, financier, and devoted alumnus. New York Theological Seminary began its life in 1900 with the founding of the Bible Teachers’ College in Montclair, New Jersey by Wilbert Webster White. A gifted scholar and teacher, President White was a leading proponent of the inductive Bible study method, and believed that the Bible ought to occupy the central position in the theological curriculum. The inductive method emphasizes three steps in biblical interpretation: observe, interpret and apply. It lent itself easily to an emphasis on practical training for ministry

A história da Unigranrio começou em 1970, ano em que o professor José de Souza Herdy criou a Associação Fluminense de Educação (AFE), entidade mantenedora das então Faculdades Unidas Grande Rio. Em 1972, foram implantados os primeiros cursos superiores – Ciências Contábeis e Administração. Os cursos de Pedagogia e Letras começaram a funcionar no ano seguinte, sendo criado, em 1974, o Centro Educacional de Duque de Caxias (CEDUC) para atuar como Colégio de Aplicação.
A década de 80 registrou a criação dos primeiros cursos da área de Saúde — Odontologia, Enfermagem e Farmácia —, seguidos dos cursos de Ciências Biológicas, Matemática e Química. Quando o professor José de Souza Herdy faleceu, em 1989, deixou montada toda uma estrutura que possibilitou a continuidade da obra educacional. Assumiu a direção geral da instituição o seu filho, Arody Cordeiro Herdy, que coordenou todo o processo de reconhecimento das Faculdades Unidas Grande Rio como Universidade.

A Fundação Universidade Federal do Piauí (FUFPI) foi instituída nos termos Lei nº 5.528, de 11 de novembro de 1968 e oficialmente instalada em 12 de março de 1971, com o objetivo de criar e manter a UFPI.
A FUFPI é constituída por um Conselho Diretor, composto por sete membros efetivos, nomeados pelo Presidente da República. O Presidente do Conselho Diretor da FUFPI é, também, o Reitor da UFPI.
A UFPI possui três campi: Campus Ministro Petrônio Portella, em Teresina; Campus Ministro Reis Veloso, em Parnaíba; e, Campus do Junco, em Picos, além de três Colégios Agrícolas (Teresina, Floriano e Bom Jesus).

A história do campus de Niterói se confunde com a da própria Universidade Salgado de Oliveira (UNIVERSO). Em 1993, quando a instituição foi reconhecida como universidade, o campus já existia, juntamente com o de São Gonçalo. Atualmente, a UNIVERSO/Niterói é uma das principais instituições da cidade, oferecendo graduações em todas as áreas do conhecimento, pós-graduação e mestrado. Com a proposta de promover a formação integral do aluno enquanto profissional competente e consciente socialmente, a instituição fornece laboratórios modernos e professores qualificados. A história oficial do ensino das artes no Espírito Santo remonta ao ano de 1909, quando foi criado o Instituto de Belas Artes, que teve existência efêmera, encerrando suas atividades, sobre as quais não existem registros históricos detalhados, no ano de 1916. Outras instituições e indivíduos desenvolveram, isoladamente e sem maiores repercussões, o ensino das Artes: desenho, pintura, instrumentos musicais (principalmente piano e violino).

Uma característica peculiar da UNIVIX é o fato de que sua constituição foi uma iniciativa de professores universitários, com qualificação de mestrado e doutorado e vasta experiência acadêmica, adquirida em cargos como o de ex-reitor da UFES, Coordenador de Mestrado, Chefe de Departamento, membro de Conselho Superior da UFES, que se uniram como sócios da mantenedora e também dirigentes da Instituição de Ensino. Hoje a Univix já tem 08 (oito) cursos Reconhecidos pelo MEC: Farmácia (as melhores notas do ES), Arquitetura e Urbanismo (as melhores do ES), Engenharia de Produção Civil (as melhores notas do ES), Engenharia Elétrica (reconhecido com nota final 4), Administração (as melhores notas do Brasil), Enfermagem (dois conceitos MUITO BOM e um BOM), Direito (além de ser reconhecido com nota final 4 obteve parecer favorável da OAB) e Psicologia (reconhecido com nota final 4).
