NEW in 2006! The Big Kahuna The most visible enhancement to the park this year can be seen climbing 75 feet into the air: the Big Kahuna is an extreme tubing experience, which begins as guests board a four-person raft headed for a spiraling ride more than 700 feet long. Guests speed through triple dips and twisting turns on the alternately open and enclosed track before bursting into the sunshine and the cool splash pool below.

In 1978, the zoo closed to embark upon a two-year upgrade project. 1980 marked the rebirth of the zoo; it reopened with a new Nature Center, a Polar bear exhibit, a boardwalk through a native wetlands area and a North American bison exhibit. Fifty thousand years ago, a continental glacier moved southward over New Hampshire covering mountains and valleys. As the ice sheet thawed, great blocks of granite cracked and loosened from Hawk's Cliff.
These massive granite blocks fell at the base of the cliff forming Polar Caves, an amazing series of caves and passages through which you can walk.
