The King of Prussia Mall is the largest shopping mall on the East Coast of the United States, and the largest shopping mall in the United States of America in terms of leasable retail space.
The two-building agglomeration is also arguably America's largest shopping complex at one location. It is located in King of Prussia, an area within Upper Merion Township, Pennsylvania, northwest of Philadelphia. The upscale mall, anchored by Bloomingdale's, Lord & Taylor, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, JCPenney, Macy's and Sears and one vacant department store, has over 400 stores and restaurants. It is also the sole outpost in Philadelphia for a number of high-end stores including Stuart Weitzman, Hugo Boss, Betsey Johnson, Movado, Kate Spade, Furla, Molton Brown, DKNY, Cartier, Anne Fontaine, Burberry, Hermès moving to a new expanded location next to Neiman Marcus, and Louis Vuitton. King of Prussia frequently sees the addition of new luxury stores, most recently signing David Yurman, Boss Orange, Mont Blanc, Ralph Lauren, North Face, Samsonite, Thomas Pink, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Coming soon Gucci. Located north of the city of Wilmington, Delaware, in the unincorporated Brandywine Hundred area along U.S. Route 202. The mall is located a short distance south of the Pennsylvania border and it attracts shoppers from Pennsylvania and other neighboring states wishing to take advantage of tax-free shopping in Delaware. The mall opened in stages over a period of several years. The first of the mall was an Almart, a now-defunct discounter, which opened in 1965. In 1971, a Pomeroy's (now-defunct department store chain) was added. The Almart later became a Jefferson Ward (Montgomery Ward-owned discounter), and was then a Bradlees for a brief time until it was demolished for a Sears. The Fox Run Mall is a shopping mall in Newington, New Hampshire, just north of Portsmouth. Its main anchor stores include J. C. Penney, Macy's Men's & Home Store (formerly Jordan Marsh), Macy's Women's (formerly Filene's) and Sears. The mall has over 100 stores all on one level.
