The Neighborhood House defines need broadly to include economic, social, emotional, and physical need, but gives priority to those in economic need. The Neighborhood House's objective is to help people gain the skills to strengthen themselves and their community.

The Society is dedicated to presenting exhibitions and public programs, and fostering research that reveal the dynamism of history and its influence on the world of today. Founded in 1804, its holdings cover four centuries of American history, and include one of the world’s greatest collections of historical artifacts, American art and other materials documenting the history of the United States as seen through the prism of New York City and State. <br> Forty thousand of the Society’s most treasured pieces are on permanent display in the Henry Luce III Center for the Study of American Culture, and a self-guided audio tour brings these artifacts to life with anecdotes and stories. Our collections provide the foundation for exploration of the nation’s richly layered past and support the Society’s mission to provide a forum for debate and examination of issues surrounding the making and meaning of history.

The Herald Square Hotel was the original Life magazine building, and it retains its charming cherub-adorned entrance. All rooms were recently renovated, corridors are filled with framed Life illustrations. It's near Macy's and the Empire State Building, Madison Square Garden, and it's a good deal!

Here at IBC and The Lindt Ballet Theater, companies can be proud of the artistic directorship of Rosemarie Lindt-Piccolo who not only has brought with her experience in working with such legendary performers as Maurice Bejart, Roland Petit and Mathilde Kschessinskaya, but her training with the world famous Madame Nora Kiss forms a link to history's greatest dancers such as Pavlova and Carlotta Brianza. Ms. Lindt-Piccolo has also studied with the great choreographer Kurt Jooss, and has extensively studied various dance forms such as Classical Spanish, Modern Tap, Pas de Deux, and the Rudolf von Laban method of Kinetography.

The Charlie Parker Jazz Festival annually assembles some of the finest musicians in the world who reflect Parker’s musical individuality and genius, to promote appreciation for this highly influential and world-renowned artist. The River to River Festival takes place each summer during the month of July, in a variety of public venues that canvas all of Downtown New York - from Chambers Street down to the southern tip of Manhattan and across the island from river to river. Starting in 2007, the River to River Festival is proud to be taking steps toward becoming an environmentally friendly festival. One of the oldest mystery specialist book stores in America, the Mysterious Bookshop is now in its 26th year. It is a two-story bookstore, with paperbacks on the ground floor (with a few new arrivals in Hardcover) and Hardcovers on the second floor. A spiral staircase connects the two floors. The shop is open six days a week, Monday through Saturday, 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.
