O Centro Cultural do Banco do Brasil (CCBB) do Rio de Janeiro é um dos quatro CCBBs do país, que também existem nas capitais Brasília, São Paulo e Belo Horizonte. Os Centros são espaços multidisciplinares com programação regular (seis dias por semana), nas áreas de artes cênicas, cinema, exposição, ideias (palestras, debates, seminários etc), música e programa educativo. O CCBB oferece ao público uma programação cultural que é referência no Rio de Janeiro e no Brasil. Com projetos nas mais diversas áreas, o Centro tem um volume de freqüentadores comparável ao de outras grandes instituições culturais do mundo.
Nos vários campos da arte, a programação procura oferecer obras que vão do clássico ao experimental, do erudito ao popular, dos grandes mestres aos talentos iniciantes. Esses critérios de seleção permitem ao CCBB alcançar freqüentadores com os mais abrangentes níveis de interesse. Instalado no número 66 da Rua Primeiro de Março, o Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil é uma das jóias arquitetônicas da Cidade. Seus espaços, organizados e adornados com elementos neoclássicos, abrigam três teatros, sala de cinema, sala de vídeo, cinco salas de exposições, biblioteca com 140 mil títulos, museu e arquivo histórico, videoteca e salão para conferências e palestras. O freqüentador dispõe ainda de restaurante, casa de chá, bombonière e loja de produtos culturais.

Based on The Suit by Can Themba, Mothobi Mutloatse, and Barney Simon Direction, adaptation, and music by Peter Brook, Marie-Hélène Estienne, and Franck Krawczyk The renowned Peter Brook—whose 1987 production of The Mahabharata inaugurated the BAM Majestic Theater (now the BAM Harvey Theater)—returns with a music-filled adaptation of South African writer Can Themba’s piercing tale of simmering resentment and tragedy, The Suit. A wife caught in the act, her lover fleeing the scene, a suit left behind. It’s the perfect recipe for a husband’s punishing, humiliating decree: go on with business as usual, he says to his spouse, but take your lover’s suit everywhere you go as a ghostly reminder of your betrayal. Using an innovative staging that integrates live musicians directly into the action, Brook makes Themba’s volatile work sing. A hummed “Strange Fruit,” African melodies, and Schubert lieder thicken the tense, poisoned air of this apartheid-era summer in which a shared wound was not allowed to heal.
Dating from its first performance in 1861, BAM has grown into a thriving urban arts center that brings international performing arts and film to Brooklyn. The first BAM facility at 176-194 Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights was originally conceived by the Philharmonic Society of Brooklyn as a home for its concerts. It housed a large theater seating 2,200, a smaller concert hall, dressing and chorus rooms, and a vast "baronial" kitchen. BAM presented both amateur and professional music and theater productions. Performers included Ellen Terry, Edwin Booth, Tomas Salvini, and Fritz Kreisler.

The Booth Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 222 West 45th Street in midtown-Manhattan, New York City.
The venue was the second New York City theatre to bear this name. The first was built by Booth himself in 1869 on the corner of 23rd Street and 6th Avenue.
The Booth Theatre appeared in the West Wing episode Posse Comitatus. It hosted a fictitous charity performance of War of the Roses which an equally fictitious President Bartlett attended while pondering the planned assassination of the Quamari Defence Minister. Source

A permanent home has long been a dream for the Roundabout Theatre Company. Since its establishment in 1965, Roundabout had moved from location to location, always searching for the next stop in what seemed to be a never-ending journey for permanency. From West 26th Street to West 23rd Street, from East 17th Street at Union Square then on to the Criterion Center, Roundabout seemed destined to live up to its name far too literally. All that changed in 1997, when The New 42nd Street Development project, backed by the City and State of New York, offered the historic Selwyn Theatre to Roundabout.

A São Paulo das três primeiras décadas do Século XX estava em plena transformação, conduzida pela pujante economia cafeeira e pela industrialização. Novos comportamentos, diferentes hábitos, outras influências culturais e políticas geravam os componentes que fariam da capital paulista uma referência social para o País e seu grande centro econômico. A cena cultural de São Paulo tornava-se mais rica, apesar de o Brasil sofrer as conseqüências da guerra na qual a Europa estava mergulhada e ainda que a própria cidade vivesse um período tumultuado em função das freqüentes greves de trabalhadores, então em fase de organização.

Em 8 de março de 1979, era inaugurado o teatro Villa-Lobos, com a presença do governador do Estado, Floriano Faria Lima e Adolpho Bloch (1908-1995), então presidente da Funarj. Com três unidades cênicas – o teatro e duas salas Monteiro Lobato (Espaço II) e Arnaldo Niskier (Espaço III) –, preserva a característica de receber espetáculos inéditos e trabalhos experimentais nos espaços anexos.
A escolha do nome para o teatro foi uma homenagem ao maestro Heitor Villa-Lobos, um dos maiores compositores brasileiros, autor de mais de mil músicas. Compôs peças de vários gêneros - concertos, sinfonias, suítes, quartetos de cordas, sonatas, arranjos para coro, peças para pequenos conjuntos e grande orquestra. Com maestria conseguiu mesclar o folclore brasileiro com a música de concerto européia.

The Palace Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 1564 Broadway in midtown-Manhattan.
Designed by architects Kirchoff & Rose, the theatre, built by California vaudeville entrepreneur and Broadway impresario Martin Beck, experienced a number of problems before it opened. E. F. Albee, one of the main executives for B. F. Keith and his powerful vaudeville circuit, demanded that Beck turn over three-quarters of the stock in the theatre in order to use acts from the Keith circuit. In addition, Oscar Hammerstein was the only person who could offer Keith acts in that section of Broadway, so Beck paid him off with $225,000. The theatre finally opened on March 24, 1913 with headliner Ed Wynn. To "play the Palace" meant that an entertainer had reached the pinnacle of his career, and it became a popular venue with performers like Sarah Bernhardt, Eddie Cantor, Bob Hope, Fanny Brice, Sophie Tucker, George Jessel, and Jack Benny. The Ambassador Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 219 West 49th Street in midtown-Manhattan.
Designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp for the Shuberts, the structure is unusual in that it is situated diagonally on its site to fit the maximum number of seats possible. Its external appearance, indistinguishable from many other Broadway houses, does not hint at the strange layout within. The building has been designated a New York City landmark.
The theatre opened on February 11, 1921 with the musical The Rose Girl. The Shuberts sold the property in 1935, and for the next two decades it was used as a movie theater and television studio for NBC and the DuMont Television Network. In 1956 the Shuberts assumed ownership again and returned it to strictly legitimate use. Source

The Circle in the Square Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 235 West 50th Street in midtown Manhattan.
Designed by architect Alan Sayles, it is one of two theatres occupying the underground levels of Paramount Plaza, which was constructed as the Uris Building on the site of the famed Capitol Theater movie house. It originally served as the uptown home to the Circle-in-the-Square repertory company founded by Theodore Mann and Jose Quintero in 1961 in Greenwich Village. The first production, a revival of Mourning Becomes Electra, opened on November 15, 1972.
The rather small auditorium has a seating capacity of 650. It is one of only two Broadway houses with a thrust stage (the other is Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theatre).
The building also houses the Circle in the Square Theatre School, the only accredited training conservatory associated with a Broadway theatre, which offers a two-year training program in acting. Source

The Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 236 West 45th Street in midtown-Manhattan.
Designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp to resemble the neighboring Shubert and Booth theaters designed by Henry B. Herts, the building was constructed by the Shubert brothers in 1917-1918, christened the Plymouth Theatre, and leased to producer Arthur Hopkins. He intended it to be a venue for legitimate plays starring notable actors like John and Lionel Barrymore. The premiere production was A Successful Calamity, a comedy with William Gillette and Estelle Winwood.
After Hopkins died in 1948, control of the theater returned to the Shuberts, who still own the property, which was designated a New York City landmark in 1987. The 1,080-seat house was renamed for Gerald Schoenfeld, chairman of the Shubert Organization, in 2005. Source

O Teatro Oficina completou 51 anos no ano de 2009 em plena atividade artística e social. Surgido em 1958, na Faculdade de Direito do Largo São Francisco o grupo passou por diversas fases. A profissionalização a partir de 1961, os Anos Dourados até o fim da década de 60 quando foram encenadas obras que revolucionaram a moderna dramaturgia brasileira como “Pequenos Burgueses” de Gorki e “O Rei da Vela” de Oswald de Andrade, o exílio durante os anos de chumbo da ditadura militar, entre 1974 e 1979 trabalhando em Portugal, Moçambique, França e Inglaterra produzindo obras cinematográficas como o “25” que narra a libertação de país africano e “O Parto” sobre a Revolução dos Cravos.

Opened in 1924 and originally called the 46th Street Theatre, it was renamed in 1990 to honor the legendary composer Richard Rodgers, whose shows defined Broadway for over three decades. This theatres has been a house of hits hosting a long line of famed musicals including Anything Goes, Guys and Dolls, Damn Yankees, How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas; Nine, Chicago, and Movin' Out.
The theatre was refurbished in 2006 and houses The Richard Rodgers Gallery featuring historic memorabilia from its namesake's storied career.
The Richard Rodgers has 1,319 seats and is one of The Nederlander Organization's nine Broadway theatres.

The Cort Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 138 West 48th Street in midtown-Manhattan. The Shuberts purchased the theatre in 1927.
Designed by Thomas W. Lamb, its facade was modeled after the Petit Trianon at Versailles, while architecture from the period of Louis XVI inspired the interior. The building was constructed by and named for former vaudevillean John Cort, general manager of the Northwestern Theatrical Association.
It opened on December 20, 1912 with Laurette Taylor starring in the play Peg o' My Heart, which ran for 603 performance, an auspicious start for the new venue. Numerous famous British actors have appeared at the Cort: Basil Rathbone played Dr. Nicholas Agi in The Swan in October 1923, and in April 1927 appeared as Vladimir Dubriski in Love is Like That. In October 1924 Henry Daniell appeared as Aubrey Tanqueray in The Second Mrs Tanqueray, was there again in August 1943 in Murder Without Crime, and in January 1946 appeared as Leontes in The Winter's Tale.

Ao lado do Circo Voador, uma antiga e desativada fundição de fogões e cofres estava sendo demolida. O ato de destruir um prédio tão lindo, antigo, inteiro e grande, era demais para os integrantes do Circo Voador, um grupo que valorizava a cultura brasileira de todas as épocas. As marretas soavam sovando a bela fachada da Fundição Progresso.

Considerado um dos grandes nomes do teatro brasileiro, Procópio Ferreira, nome artístico de João Álvaro de Jesus Quental Ferreira, nasceu em 1898, no Rio de Janeiro, onde estudou na Escola Dramática. Foi ator, diretor de teatro e dramaturgo. Desde cedo, Procópio descobriu seu talento de envolver a plateia, arrastando aos seus espetáculos contingentes de público de fazer inveja aos maiores sucessos de hoje.

Um dos mais bonitos prédios do Rio de Janeiro, localizado na Praça Floriano, conhecida como Cinelândia, no centro da cidade, o Theatro Municipal é a principal casa de espetáculos do Brasil e uma das mais importantes da América do Sul. No dia 10 de janeiro de 2013, o Maison de France será palco para A Arte da Comédia, um dos mais importantes textos do ator, diretor e dramaturgo italiano, Eduardo de Filippo. No espetáculo Ricardo Blat, Thelmo Fernandes e grande elenco mostram o quanto as artes cênicas fazem parte do dia a dia de todos, além de questionarem a relação entre autoridades e artistas. Como bem define o diretor Sergio Módena, “A Arte da Comédia é antes de tudo uma celebração ao teatro e ao ofício do ator. Na peça, o autor, através de uma linguagem popular e, por muitas vezes irônica, demonstra o extremo poder da arte em nossas vidas. Em sua concepção, o teatro pode ser uma grande brincadeira, pode ser político, revolucionário, mas sempre vital à nossa sociedade.” Apesar de um clássico, o texto será encenado no Rio de Janeiro pela primeira vez. Desde sua inauguração, ao inicio dos anos 50, o Teatro Maison de France foi palco dos principais acontecimentos teatrais cariocas e marcou para sempre a vida cultural da cidade.
Em junho de 1985, infelizmente, o teatro fechou suas portas, depois da temporada da peça “A Amante Inglesa” com Paulo Autran e Tônia Carreiro. Esse fechamento foi motivado por razões de segurança, particularmente pelas normas anti-incêndio que estavam obsoletas.
Inaugurado no dia 1 de fevereiro de 2002 pelo Ministro Francês da Francofonia e da Cooperação, o Teatro Maison de France passou a oferecer uma programação variada, com espetáculos de teatro, dança, música, concertos, sessões de cinema, seminários etc...
O teatro também está disponível para empresas que desejam alugar o espaço para reuniões corporativas e seminários profissionais. Por este fim, ele foi dotado de equipamentos de som e luz de última geração.
Depois dessa brilhante reinauguração, o Teatro Maison de France pode se orgulhar de ter acolido espétaculos de prestigios com todos os grandes nomes da dança (Ana Botafogo), da canção (Bibi Ferreira), da opéra ( Barbara Hendricks) e claro do teatro ( Irene Ravache, Marcos Caruso, Natalia Timberg, Pedro Paulo Rangel, Camilla Pitanga ....)

The Imperial Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 249 West 45th Street in midtown-Manhattan. The theatre seats up to 1417 people.
The Shubert Organization's fiftieth venue in New York City, it was constructed to replace their outdated Lyric Theatre. Designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp specifically to accommodate musical theatre productions, it opened on December 25, 1923 with the Oscar Hammerstein II-Vincent Youmans production Mary Jane McKane. Since then, it has hosted numerous important musicals, including Annie Get Your Gun (1946), Fiddler on the Roof (1964), Dreamgirls (1981), The Mystery of Edwin Drood (1985), and Les Miserables (1990), which played at the theatre until 2003.
