The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) was founded in 1886 through the efforts of two distinguished rabbis, Dr. Sabato Morais and Dr. H. Founded in 1847 as The Free Academy, The City College of New York (CCNY) was one of the great experiments of the young American democracy. Tem seu começo em 18 de fevereiro de 1808, quando o Príncipe Regente Dom João VI institui a Escola de Cirurgia da Bahia, primeiro curso universitário do Brasil. Em 6 de setembro de 1951, o Governador do Estado do Espírito Santo, Jones dos Santos Neves assinou a lei criando a Escola Politécnica do Espírito Santo, coroando os esforços desenvolvidos pela Sociedade Espírito Santense de Engenheiros, fundada em 1950. A Escola instalou-se nas dependências do Colégio Estadual do Espírito Santo, no prédio da Antiga FAFI, com o curso de Engenharia Civil. Seu primeiro Diretor foi o Prof. Dido Fontes de Faria Brito. Em 1953, passou a funcionar em prédio próprio na Av. Maruípe, permanecendo neste local, com sucessivas ampliações, até 1975, quando mudou para a sua atual sede no Campus Universitário "Alaor Queiroz de Araújo".

Os eventos educacionais podem ser considerados um valioso e eficaz instrumento de intercambio. Capacitam profissionais para atuar com competência no compromisso de suas funções. FACHA surgiu em 6 de dezembro de 1971, quando o ensino superior era dominado pelas universidades públicas, com poucas vagas para atender ao grande número de pessoas que queriam estudar, e o governo não apresentava verbas para construir mais universidades.
Em meio a uma época de repressão política e censura da imprensa, o professor Hélio Alonso decidiu dar início à primeira faculdade particular de Comunicação Social, com a filosofia de formar profissionais capazes de "pensar" e "agir" e com o intuito de democratizar o ensino de comunicação no Rio de Janeiro. A FACHA começou a funcionar em duas salas alugadas no Colégio Imaculada.
