Tysons Corner Center, located in the Tysons Corner unincorporated area in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States (near McLean), opened to the public in 1968, becoming one of the first fully enclosed, climate-controlled shopping centers in the greater Washington area. (The fully enclosed Iverson Mall in Hillcrest Heights, Maryland, opened in 1967.) It is the largest shopping mall in the state and in the Baltimore-Washington area.
There are plans to extend the Washington Metro subway westward to Tysons Corner and eventually out to Dulles Airport. The Tysons Central 123 Silver Line station is planned to be on the north side of the shopping center where Tysons Boulevard crosses State Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road). Cumberland Mall is located in Vineland, NJ, on Route 47 (Delsea Drive) at Route 55 (Exit 27). Recently the NJDOT created a special ramp that channels traffic into the mall from Route 55 NB. Cumberland Mall is strategically positioned 25 miles (40 km) away from its nearest competitor, 45 miles (72 km) south of Philadelphia, PA and on route to the Southern New Jersey Shore Points. The mall almost went under, but was able to stay in business thanks to Vineland's 3.5% sales tax. The two-building agglomeration is also arguably America's largest shopping complex at one location. It is located in King of Prussia, an area within Upper Merion Township, Pennsylvania, northwest of Philadelphia. Security Square Mall is a large mall in the suburbs of Baltimore, Maryland, United States. Named for its proximity to the Social Security Administration headquarters, the mall features over 100 stores and restaurants, as well as a food court, with Burlington Coat Factory, Macy's, Old Navy and Sears serving as anchor stores. One section of the mall, Seoul Plaza, includes Korean shops, restaurants and the New Light African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. The Fox Run Mall is a shopping mall in Newington, New Hampshire, just north of Portsmouth. Its main anchor stores include J. C. Located north of the city of Wilmington, Delaware, in the unincorporated Brandywine Hundred area along U.S. Route 202. The mall is located a short distance south of the Pennsylvania border and it attracts shoppers from Pennsylvania and other neighboring states wishing to take advantage of tax-free shopping in Delaware. The mall opened in stages over a period of several years. The first of the mall was an Almart, a now-defunct discounter, which opened in 1965. In 1971, a Pomeroy's (now-defunct department store chain) was added. The Almart later became a Jefferson Ward (Montgomery Ward-owned discounter), and was then a Bradlees for a brief time until it was demolished for a Sears. The largest shopping mall in the U.S. state of Connecticut and is one of the largest malls in New England. It is located off of Interstate 84 and U.S. Route 7 in the city of Danbury opposite the Danbury Municipal Airport.
In January 2007, the Danbury Fair Mall began the process of an interior renovation, which was completed in spring 2008. The mall received new lighting fixtures which replaced the original globe bulb lighting, new stone style floors which replaced the original tan, brown, and green tile floors, soft seating areas through-out the mall, new stained wood accents, and new paint.
