Porta's Karate-Do & Kobudo Academy was established in 1966 by Sensei John Porta. The Academy offers programs in three martial arts: Karate, Kobudo (traditional Okinawan weapons), and Tai Chi Chuan. Sensei Porta holds an 8th degree black belt in Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate, and was awarded the rank of Kyoshi. All ranking of students at Porta's Karate-Do & Kobudo Academy is of the highest standards, and is sanctioned and certified by authentic martial arts organization from Okinawa, Japan.

In 1963 Professor Bill Mcloud's martial arts training started when he began boxing at the "Police Athletic League" (PAL). He boxed in various PAL's learning the fundamentals of the art of boxing, but one of the places he enjoyed going to box was at St. John's recreation center in Brooklyn.

Tae Kwon Do is a native korean form of unarmed combat that orginated in response to primitive man's need to protect himself from marauding contemporaries. it is a martial art that employ kicking, punching, jumping, blocking, dodging and deflecting blowa as fundamental techniques, utilizing the feet and hands as weapons. To some, Tae Kwon Do is known Karate.

Isshin-ryu Karate for self-defense, fitness, health, well-being, and sport. Beginners and students with prior experience in the martial arts are welcome.

Tae Kwon Do is considered to be the most effective fighting art ever developed. It is a physical science, where each move carries maximum power, speed, accuracy and balance. Literally translated from Korean, Tae means “foot” or “to strike with the foot,” Kwon means “fist” or “to strike with the hand,” and Do means “discipline” or “art.” Therefore, taken together Tae Kwon Do means “foot, fist, art” or “the art of kicking and punching.” Modern Tae Kwon Do is a unique form of martial arts that combines the flowing movements of numerous Chinese styles with the quick movements of various Japanese systems.

Theodorou Academy Jiu-Jitsu has been offering instruction and training in Ju-Jitsu since 1994. The Nakano Dojo of Ninjitsu is named after the first Spy School in Modern Japan. The Nakano Dojo aims to carry on the legacy of O’Sensei Ronald Duncan, Father of American Ninjutsu, and one of the pioneers of martial arts in the United States. <br> Ancient Ninja principles are applied to modern scenarios at the Nakano Dojo. Vermont Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, aka VT BJJ, offers outstanding programs dedicated to quality and professionalism. Aikido of Champlain Valley is a 501(c)(3) federal non-profit educational institution committed to teaching traditional Aikido in Vermont by providing safe, focused and enjoyable training. Aikido of Champlain Valley schedules weekend seminars in Aikido and Iaido with guest instructors from around the world. We also offer classes in zazen (Zen meditation), Iaido (sword arts) and Aiki-weapons (sword and staff). An intensive training program is also available for qualifying students.
