Tom Beyar, Owner of Beyar's Market, is no stranger to the supermarket business. Tom began his career in 1982 when he became a partner in the former Miggy's Supermarket. Tom was one of the strengthening forces in making Miggy's a success. In August of 2003, Tom opened Beyar's Market in the Westerleigh section of Staten Island. It started as a small deli under a different name and is growing into a successful supermarket and catering business. Tom Beyar has been at this location for over 20 years, only growing to serve the needs of the community.

Mill Basin Kosher Deli and Fine Art Gallery, Brooklyn's Premiere Kosher Deli has been owned by Mark Schachner for the past 25 years and has established itself as an attraction to visit while in New York, because of it's Great Kosher cuisine and it's world class gallery exhibiting works by many masters of today including a collection of original works by Erté, the father of Art Deco that rivals the collection of the Metropolitan Museum in New York, turn of the century posters by Alphonse Mucha and 3-D works by James Rizzi, as well as works by Roy Lichtenstein, Marc Chagall and other great artists. In 2006, we opened the South Village and SoHo Real Food Markets in New York City for farmers, artisans, and purveyors of regional and traditional foods. What is Real Food? At a properly-run farmers' market, all vendors are producers. A Real Food Market is more like markets in Europe. There are farmers and bakers, but also food artisans and purveyors, or merchants. Second, the Real Food Region is larger than at a traditional farmers' market. We forage in the Northeast: New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Oh, and you might find other goodies you don't see at a true farmers' market, such as a cup of hot coffee (locally roasted) or hot chocolate with local milk. The experiment was a success and we'd like to do it again, but in the summer of 2007 we have too many other things to do. Stay tuned.
