Criado em 1982, o Espaço Ciência Viva é o primeiro museu participativo de Ciências do Brasil. Foi fundado por um grupo de cientistas, pesquisadores e educadores interessados em tornar a Ciência mais próxima do cotidiano do cidadão comum.
O Espaço é um centro cultural-artístico científico que irradia energia inovadora e criativa e propõem novas formas de divulgar a ciência, influenciando e gerando conceitos em educação e popularização da ciência, que aproxima sociedade e cientista. Várias atividades estão programadas ao longo do ano, a fim de proporcionar visitas divertidas e reveladoras.
Todo último sábado de cada mês, o museu abre das 14 horas às 17 horas para o ‘Sábado da Ciência’, com entrada gratuita. Uma equipe de cientistas, professores e estudantes de graduação e pós-graduação estarão apresentando oficinas, que levem os visitantes a descobrirem uma maneira feliz de fazer ciência.

O Centro Cultural do Banco do Brasil (CCBB) do Rio de Janeiro é um dos quatro CCBBs do país, que também existem nas capitais Brasília, São Paulo e Belo Horizonte. Os Centros são espaços multidisciplinares com programação regular (seis dias por semana), nas áreas de artes cênicas, cinema, exposição, ideias (palestras, debates, seminários etc), música e programa educativo. O CCBB oferece ao público uma programação cultural que é referência no Rio de Janeiro e no Brasil. Com projetos nas mais diversas áreas, o Centro tem um volume de freqüentadores comparável ao de outras grandes instituições culturais do mundo.
Nos vários campos da arte, a programação procura oferecer obras que vão do clássico ao experimental, do erudito ao popular, dos grandes mestres aos talentos iniciantes. Esses critérios de seleção permitem ao CCBB alcançar freqüentadores com os mais abrangentes níveis de interesse. Instalado no número 66 da Rua Primeiro de Março, o Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil é uma das jóias arquitetônicas da Cidade. Seus espaços, organizados e adornados com elementos neoclássicos, abrigam três teatros, sala de cinema, sala de vídeo, cinco salas de exposições, biblioteca com 140 mil títulos, museu e arquivo histórico, videoteca e salão para conferências e palestras. O freqüentador dispõe ainda de restaurante, casa de chá, bombonière e loja de produtos culturais.

Located at the corner of Fifth Street and Home Avenue, the Hartsville Museum and the Sculpture Courtyard anchor the cultural plaza in downtown Hartsville, SC. The museum, founded in 1980, is a local history museum. Housed in a 1930’s Post Office Building, the museum has kept many of the unique architectural features of the building. The skylight, original to the building, has been retrofitted with stained glass panels depicting the flora and fauna significant to the area. The Sculpture Courtyard added in 2000 features many different types of sculpture. The Showcase Gallery presents special exhibits focusing on history, the arts or present day events.

A major Canadian institution dedicated exclusively to contemporary art, the Musée offers a varied program ranging from presentations of its Permanent Collection to exhibitions of works by Québec, Canadian and international artists. The Permanent Collection comprises some 7,000 works, including the largest collection of art by Paul-Émile Borduas. Through Education and Documentation Department, the museum presents a host of educational activities further to connect the general public with contemporary art. The Musée also stages numerous multimedia events, including performance, new dance, experimental theatre, contemporary music, video and film.

The mission of the Musée des maîtres et artisans du Québec is to promote Quebec's cultural heritage, including the traditional arts and crafts of yesterday, and those of today, among local, regional and national collectivities.
Its artistic objectives are to increase awareness of traditional craft and artisanal practices, as well as contemporary craft and contemporary art. Also, the Museum accords a large place to the artistic and artisanal expression of the different cultural communities that enrich its local population and reflect the image of Canada today.

The first of its kind, the Brooklyn Children’s Museum paved the way for many to follow. Slated to be New York City’s first “green” museum, it integrates environmentally responsible building materials. Nearing the end of your fun-filled day you might want to head over to the Brower Park Branch Library for some family reading.

Medieval Europe in New York? This implausible statement is very much a reality as you approach the Cloisters Museum branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This section of the museum has been built to resemble the architectural elements of the middle ages and takes you back in time. The museum itself is devoted to the art of the time period and offers a traditional museum experience by shares the faith of all the artists and artisans with work on display. The Cloisters is highly dedicated to maintaining its religious roots with the restoration of the Fuentiduena Chapel, featuring the most magnificent stain glass and hand crafted religious artifacts. The Cloisters has also been known to have a feel of a mini-city with their own restaurant and botanical garden designed to enhance the visiting pleasure. Summer 2012 continues with the traditions of bringing Europe to the masses, as more exhibits are on tap to make their way through the hallowed greatness that is the museum. The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza contains nearly 400 historic photographs, six documentary films, an audio tour and a range of artifacts and interpretive displays to document the life, times, death and legacy of President John F. Kennedy. The 9,000 square-foot museum recreates the social and political context of the early l960s, chronicles the events of November 22, l963, and analyzes Kennedy's lasting impact on American culture.

A Casa das Rosas, localizada na Avenida Paulista número 37, foi projetada na década de 1930 pelo escritório de Ramos de Azevedo, para ser a residência de sua filha Lúcia, recém casada com o engenheiro Ernesto Dias de Castro. A bela casa, hoje referência na vida do paulistano, foi uma das últimas construções realizadas na avenida.

O Museu Judaico do Rio de Janeiro, fundado em 1977, com a doação de uma menorá (candelabro de sete braços, um dos principais símbolos do judaísmo), é um centro cultural dinâmico, integrado à vida da cidade com atividades estruturadas em torno do binômio preservação da memória/dinamização da cultura judaica.

Construída por volta de 1860, pelo médico José Martins Rocha, a casa é vendida ao Industrial Português José Francisco Correia - Visconde de Sande e depois Conde de Agrolongo (Títulos recebidos em Portugal).
Em 1903, o Conde retira-se para Portugal e põe a residência a leilão com todos os seus pertences, não aparecendo comprador. Pela mesma época a Capital era transferida de Petrópolis para Niterói e o Governador Nilo Peçanha resolveu adquirir o palacete para sede do governo, consumando-se a venda em 1904. Durante os 71 anos seguintes, teve o Palácio, 43 ocupantes entre governadores interinos e interventores federais.

O Museu da Imagem e do Som (MIS) foi inaugurado em 3 de setembro de 1965 pelo então governador do estado da Guanabara, Carlos Lacerda. O MIS lançou um gênero pioneiro de museu audiovisual que seria seguido por outras capitais e cidades brasileiras, além de ter se constituído num centro cultural de vanguarda nas décadas de 60 e 70 do século XX, lugar de encontros e lançamentos de idéias e novos comportamentos. Além de abrigar importantes arquivos que atendem aos interesses de um público pesquisador amplo e diversificado, o prédio da Fundação Museu da Imagem e do Som é, em si mesmo, uma das mais belas peças de sua coleção, constituindo um exemplar histórico raro dos edifícios construídos para abrigar a Exposição do Centenário da Independência do Brasil, realizada em 1922. Localizado na Praça XV, e inserido na Zona Especial do Corredor Cultural da cidade do Rio de Janeiro, junto com o Museu Histórico Nacional, o Museu Naval, o Paço Imperial, a Casa França-Brasil e o Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil, em 1989 o Instituto Estadual de Patrimônio Cultural (Inepac) do Governo do Estado do Rio de Janeiro promoveu o tombamento do prédio. Em outubro de 1990, pela Lei nº 1.714, o MIS foi transformado numa fundação, dirigida por um presidente.

Primeiro monumento construído especialmente para preservar a memória da Independência do Brasil, o Museu Paulista, inaugurado em 7 de setembro de 1895, foi criado como Museu de Ciências Naturais. Em 1819 retomou sua vocação original e é hoje um museu histórico. Também é conhecido como Museu do Ipiranga. Seu acervo, com cerca de 100 mil peças, é constituído por obras de arte, mobiliário, trajes e utensílios que pertenceram a personalidades da história brasileira, como os bandeirantes e os imperadores. As instalações abrigam uma biblioteca com 100 mil volumes e um Centro de Documentação Histórica, com 40 mil manuscritos.

O Paço Imperial é um Centro Cultural com rica programação artística, localizado na Praça XV de Novembro, no centro histórico da cidade, no prédio considerado o mais importante dos edifícios civis coloniais do Brasil. Foi primeiro a residência dos governadores da Capitania do Rio de Janeiro e depois passou a ser a casa de despachos, sucessivamente, do Vice-Rei do Brasil, do Rei de Portugal Dom João VI e dos imperadores do Brasil. Em sua restauração, na reconstituição da fachada, optou-se pela feição colonial, adquirida particularmente no período da ocupação pela Família Real Portuguesa, mas foram preservadas marcas e formas de vários outros momentos históricos. O Paço Imperial conta com uma diversificada programação de artes plásticas, cinema, teatro, música, biblioteca, atividades educativas, seminários, serviços de lojas e restaurantes. Percorrê-lo é fazer uma releitura do tempo inscrito em seus espaços, relacionando-os com épocas e fatos ocorridos. As exposições permanentes também são um ótimo programa cultural.

O Museu Nacional/UFRJ está vinculado ao Ministério da Educação. É a mais antiga instituição científica do Brasil e o maior museu de história natural e antropológica da América Latina. Criado por D. João VI, em 06 de junho de 1818 e, inicialmente, sediado no Campo de Sant’Anna, serviu para atender aos interesses de promoção do progresso cultural e econômico no país. Alojar-se no Paço de São Cristóvão, a partir de 1892 - residência da Família Imperial brasileira até 1889 - deu ao Museu um caráter ímpar frente às outras instituições do gênero.

O acervo do Museu Nacional de Belas Artes teve origem no conjunto de obras de arte trazido por D. João VI de Portugal, em 1808, ampliado alguns anos mais tarde com a coleção reunida por Joachin Lebreton, que chefiou a chamada Missão Artística Francesa, formando a mais importante pinacoteca do país.

O Museu da Casa Brasileira guarda e conserva objetos, móveis e equipamentos de várias épocas da história da moradia no Brasil. Construído entre 1942 e 1945, o antigo Solar Prado, implantado em um terreno de aproximadamente 15.000 m², é uma réplica do Palácio Imperial de Petrópolis, no Rio de Janeiro. O Museu é um importante núcleo de pesquisa, discussão de arquitetura e design. Sua biblioteca foi organizada e formaram-se uma vioteca e um acervo de documentação contemporânea brasileira e internacional.

A Casa do Patrimônio Ferroviário Brasileiro, conhecido como Museu do Trem, administrado pela REDE FERROVIÁRIA FEDERAL, foi inaugurado em fevereiro de 1984. Instalado no antigo galpão de pinturas de carros da Estrada de Ferro Pedro II. São destaques: A BARONEZA, construída na Inglaterra, foi a primeira locomotiva a trafegar no Brasil em 1854. O CARRO IMPERIAL que foi fabricado em 1886, na Bélgica, para servir ao imperador D. Pedro II; O CARRO DO REI ALBERTO, que fazia parte da composição adaptada exclusivamente para servir ao Rei da Bélgica, em 1921, por ocasião da sua visita ao Brasil e O CARRO PRESIDENCIAL que serviu a Getulio Vargas na década de 30. Sua sede está estruturada para a realização de projetos e atividades culturais, atingindo os diversos segmentos sociais. Possui laboratórios, biblioteca, auditório, além de salas de exposições permanentes e exposições temporárias.

O Museu do Amanhã é um museu de artes e ciências construído no Pier da Praça Mauá, no Centro do Rio de Janeiro, como âncora do projeto de revitalização urbana da Região Portuária da cidade, o Porto Maravilha. Projetado pelo arquiteto espanhol Santiago Calatrava, o Museu do Amanhã é uma iniciativa da Prefeitura do Rio, concebido e realizado em conjunto com a Fundação Roberto Marinho (Grupo Globo) e o Banco Santander como Patrocinador Master. Tem a BG Brasil como mantenedora e o apoio do Governo do Estado, por meio da Secretaria de Estado do Ambiente, e do Governo Federal, por intermédio da Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos (Finep). The DOCKYARD MUSEUM in the Naval Officer's House interprets the story of English Harbour and of the people that toiled in this famous Georgian Royal Naval Yard. It also explains the 20th century return of sailing ships and the aims and aspirations of Nelson's Dockyard National Park. There is also a small "Nelson's Room" with a life sized portrait of Nelson researched through archaeological means.
