Since its formation in 1960, the American Montessori Society (AMS) has been the mainstay of the Montessori movement in the United States. The United Nations International School (UNIS) was founded in 1947 by United Nations affiliated families. UNIS has a multi-national staff from 70 countries and over 1,450 students from 115 countries.
